Providing functional textile for famous outdoor clothing brands
Famous outdoor clothing brands such as North Face, Lafuma, Discovery, K2 and Millet normally have preferred affiliates. Sejong TF, established by Mihye Kim, is a company that makes eco-friendly fabric with organic cotton, inedible part of bamboo and corn, recycled plastic bottles and waste fishing net. They passed eco-friendly certificate, developed 'two way stretch' that created a sensation, and ranked No.1 in sales. Two way stretch has become a must item for climbers in Korea (second biggest outdoor clothing market in the world) as it has functions of keeping warm, radiation, anti-ultraviolet, water proof and quick dry of moisture. They develop eco-friendly materials and have a high growth possibility. They invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in R&D and they try to use current down turn in the market advantageously and Kim analyses outdoor trend for next two years. Kim already has been praised for her hundreds of developments and she is currently focusing on 'mechanical stretch'. Climbers are usually conservative and show a distaste to a trend but Kim says that mechanical stretch feels like rubber yarn fabric, industrial waste free, stretchable, light and has 100% polyester combination rate. That is why it satisfies consumer preference. The fabric market takes 1/10 of the outdoor clothing market and Sejong TF records $30M yearly sales. 

Reinvestment in R&D, prediction in fashion and eco-friendliness
Kim says "my hobby is to develop fabric (sample work for mass produce). I enjoy my work and it is the meaning of my life to read trend and develop products beforehand." Unlike others who start to work after they get orders, Kim analyses trend and develops products beforehand. That is why Kim is leading the fabric market. Kim says "most people in the field are engineers but I have experience in design and I can plan what we can do next." Time gets very tight if they start to work after getting orders but Kim can meet the dead line though it is a little risky. Kim says "to have an eye for analysing trend to reduce risk is important but planning ability and market analysis are equally so. I made a success with my hard work and a bit of luck." It is Kim's ability to read S/S trend in Europe, North America and Japan in 2016 and applies it to Korean market. Kim says "The US and Germany are leading the outdoor clothing market and France the fashion but Korea shows similar condition. The urban outdoor market in Korea is expected to expand as the land is covered with 70% of mountains. We develop products with prediction that the market will be led by cotton, wool and hemp. We will also be working on high end top outdoor brands and outdoor activity in terms of sales and application." Likewise, Kim is reinvesting in R&D according to her clients' demand.

Building sewing factory to break bad customs
Kim asks her staff to use small car and not to use disposable products like she does. She runs the company based on eco-friendliness and develops harmless materials for human body through KC Certificate. Kim regrets that the textile industry is excluded from the key industries in Korea. She says "Taiwan provides tax benefit for small and medium textile enterprises. Kim built a factory in Hanoi in last August to prevent not receiving unpaid amount from bankrupt companies. Kim says "it's the first time in the field. As we are the No.1 in the field, we could afford several million dollars of construction cost. This is because we have been experiencing difficulty receiving outstanding amount from major brands. With our factory, we will directly supply and take the money which is the only solution for us." Kim added that she will keep focus on R&D and management, while her staff are working on sales.
