From a chemist to a founding legend of human kitchen
Furnace and stove provided enough hot water for a family to drink and wash but boiling and throwing away the water gave pain in the back of housewives in the past. But when kitchen was partitioned with sink, housewives could wash the dishes in the same place with their back up right as water also was running through the tap with options to choose either cold or hot water. The transition was done through Saemaeul Movement and building apartment was booming and this eventually led women to have their own career. But there was a brilliant idea of Park who founded 'Oripyeo Sink (duck mark sink)' in this fascinating transition. In the time where a piece of bread costed only one penny, Park was a promising university student who received a scholarship worth $5.

He dreamed to be an engineer but majored in chemicals and involved in business English and import clearance by advice of the CEO of a company who gave him the scholarship. With his brilliant talent in business English, he was promoted to the Head of Trade Department within 3 years of his career in the company. When the company went bankrupt in the social turmoil in 1961, Kim, aged 27, decided to be a businessman in trade and distribution fields. But he established Woongwu Sangsa with $800 and sold chemicals, ceramics and bath supplies which means he was rather interested in manufacturing. Park says "importing means that all the profits go to overseas countries except my own share. But manufacturing and selling makes profits for the Korean industries and workers." Thus, he started to research on kitchenware and eventually made kitchen sink. With the trade mark of duck logo and KS Mark on the kitchen sink, the products he made became a must have item for those who live in apartment. Challenge and success in the global market
There is a saying in Korean 'You have to change everything except your wife and children'. In that terms, the successful case of ENEX's innovation through BI&CI attracted an extreme interest from academic world. Because the secrete of Oripyeo Sink being turned into ENEX was a role model of globalization, modernization and innovation of kitchen. Park continues "just changing the name itself is not enough. Some even asked me why I changed the name. When I went back to the business after serving my term as a lawmaker, I could not find anything like brand image or business pride. So I flew to Europe to study European style kitchen and reorganized our technical ability by introducing new equipment." When Park changed the name to ENEX, he changed everything from their technology, store interior, display, product to customer services based on international brand image. Colorful modern kitchen painted by UV seal coating, water borne painting that does not produce harmful substance, system kitchen with built-in home appliances, elevation kitchen that controls the level of shelf and storage by a button, and SSK mirrored plate that has no joints were all introduced by Park's innovative thinking. He read housewives' desire to have a multi-system kitchen. They did not just want to have a dishwasher but an ergonomically and practically designed kitchen where they can wash the dishes while listening to music in a beautifully built-in space. This was the reason ENEX became a role model in the industry for both image transformation and technological innovation.

Rational succession of business and enterprise value 
Park appeared on MBC 'Success Story' as the 66th star and received 'Most Respected Entrepreneur Award' from KCEOA last year. Although he is 81 now, he has limitless stamina and positive attitude like the stainless sink he made. When the company was hit by economic hardship in 2011, he poured his own money worth $10 million to the company. Park says "whenever I give a lecture, I always mention the fact that among 148 countries which were colonized by others at one point in the history, Korea achieved GDP of $10,000 most rapidly. But it's shame that corruption and lack of consideration for others are prevailed in our society. We need men of integrity as our social leaders." Like his words, Park is not blinded by love of gain. He continues "if you focus on your own interests and desires it can be resulted in thousands of people losing their job. Entrepreneurs must realize this. Company is a place where people build their lives. And for that reason, I could willingly donate my own money when the company was in danger of collapse in 2011 and I actually gained more trust from the staff and business partners as a result. Same applies to my son (Jinkyu Park, deputy CEO) who will succeed the business. He diligently carried out field experience for several years which I asked and is showing a good performance and management skill in cooperation with staff, partner firms and banks. While many companies rather focus on short term profits, I train my son as an apprentice in the pursuit of delivering current technology to the company's future. Therefore, I am really strict in his management and performance and so far I am satisfied with his management philosophy of creating values and fostering talented people." ENEX has 40 years of history and is now growing to be a total interior company over kitchen interior and Power Korea wishes the Park's and ENEX a prosperous future.
