Passion, challenge and dream to fly
The cradle of high quality finance accounting education
Seunghoon Ko, the Head Teacher of Wonju Finance Accounting High School

Korea's first finance accounting high school
Wonju Finance Accounting High School made a successful transformation from an academic high school in 2014. After the switchover, the entrance competition rate for the school recorded 2.25:1 and the academic record of the freshers marked 178.5, the highest in the history of the school. The goal of specialized high schools in Korea is to foster professionals through developing one's aptitude and talent at the high school level. With the full and complete support by the government, the schools can make their own systematic and specialized curriculum in the goal to foster professional students who will be equipped with practical business ability. This is the reason that many enterprises prefer the students from specialized high schools to the students from academic high schools. A full scholarship from the government, free meals, support for boarding expenses and scholarship benefits are another privileges with which the students can enjoy. The subjects of Wonju Finance Accounting High School include finance accounting, commercial economy, accounting principles, computer security, enterprise resource planning and practical data processing. Students can prepare, in the cutting edge laboratories of the school, for various certificates relating to computer accounting, ERP information management, computerized tax accounting and bank teller. In the pursuit of improving student's field experience, the school is cooperating with 60 financial institutions and has signed MOUs with some of the enterprises. The school also is running special screening to implement their 'job first study later' policy and is providing career guidance in case students wish to carry on their study at an evening or in-house college.

Fostering talented people with right skills and personality
Based on the mid and long term development strategy to promote students as global leaders, Wonju Finance Accounting High School is exerting their effort to perfect students' skills and personality through various programs, competitions and club activities such as 'Entrepreneurial Research Competition', 'Commercial Competition', 'Best CV Competition', 'Start-up Competition', 'Open Recruitment Programme', 'Enterprise Programme', 'Finance Programme', 'Start-up Club', 'IT Specialist Club', 'Reading Club', 'English Club' and 'Simulated Stock Investment Club'. The evening studying of reading and discussion, in particular, is functioning as the core programme to improve students' thinking and presentation abilities as well as creativity and self-motivation. Ko said "we are focusing on promoting global leaders who are equipped with right skills and personality through practical and effective management system."
