이후 ‘대한보청기’는 꾸준한 연구와 기술력, 축적된 노하우를 바탕으로 가격 대비 성능, 기능, 품질 등 모든 면에서 믿을 수 있는 최고의 보청기를 제작하고 있다. 또한 故 김대중 전 대통령이 착용하기도 했던 최첨단 초소형 보청기의 다양한 모델들도 선보이고 있다. 특히 지난해 후반기에 출시돼 2014년 베스트상품에 선정되기도 했던 ‘맥소 스텝(MAXO STEP)’은 세계에서 가장 빠른 처리 속도를 가진 IC칩을 사용한 제품으로 백화점이나 식당, 길거리 같은 소음이 심한 곳에서 사용이 어려웠던 기존 보청기 제품들의 단점을 극복했으며, 비슷한 성능의 타사 제품에 비해 3~40% 저렴하다는 장점을 갖고 있다.

난청으로 고생하는 모든 이들에게 저렴하고 우수한 보청기를 제공하겠다는 일념으로 연구와 제품개발에 매진하고 있는 대한보청기는 난청자들의 부담을 덜고자 세계 최초로 ‘보청기 렌탈 서비스’를 제공하고 있다. 국산화를 통해 가격이 많이 내려갔지만 아직까지도 보청기는 고가의 제품이다. 더군다나 개개인 맞춤 제작이기 때문에 렌탈 서비스는 불가능한 영역이라 생각되어 왔다. 대한보청기에서는 비용부담 탓에 보청기를 구입하지 못하고 난청의 고통을 겪고 있는 이들을 위해 약 4년간 렌탈 서비스를 준비해왔다. 3~400만 원의 고가 제품을 월 3~4만 원으로 기간 제한 없이 이용할 수 있도록 한 이 서비스는 지난해 6월부터 시행되며 많은 사람에게 ‘듣는 행복’을 선물하고 있다.
또한 대한보청기는 방문이 어려운 고객을 위해 ‘천사방문 무료서비스’를 시행하고 있다. 건강보험공단의 발표에 따르면 난청 진료환자 중 약 45%가 60대 이상의 고령층이라고 한다. 이 같은 고령층은 교통편이 불편하거나 이동이 자유롭지 못한 경우가 많아 보청기 고장시 수리 서비스를 받는데 어려움이 있어왔다. 대한보청기에서는 전국 직영 센터를 30개로 확장하고 무료 방문 출장팀을 만들어 고객들에게 무료점검, 보청기테스트, 귀내시경검사를 제공하고 있다.

글로벌 브랜드로서의 도약을 꿈꾸다
이학선 부사장은 “맞지 않는 보청기는 금전적 손해뿐만 아니라 오히려 청력을 손상시키는 부작용을 겪을 수 있습니다. 반드시 보청기 전문가와 상의하여 여러 가지 적합검사를 거친 후 난청 정도와 유형을 파악하여 정확하게 보청기를 선별 착용하는 것이 중요합니다”라고 강조했다. 이에 따라 대한보청기 직영점에서는 종합검사 시스템을 통해 고객의 골도, 귀도, 언어 검사 등 세밀한 종합 검사를 제공하고 있다. 

대한보청기의 향후 목표는 부품의 100% 국산화와 해외 시장 진출이다. 대부분의 부품이 국산화된 지금에도 중요부품은 덴마크와 독일에서 수입을 하고 있는 상황이다. 이에 대한보청기에서는 올 상반기 중 조선대, 서일대와 협력하여 부품 국산화를 위한 연구소를 설립할 예정이다. 지속적인 연구개발 투자를 통해 제품 혁신과 경쟁력 강화에 힘쓰겠다고 밝혔다.

Although many parts of hearing aid are produced locally, the main parts are still imported from Denmark and Germany. For this, DAEHAN HEARING AID CO., LTD. is planning to establish a research institute within the first half of the year in cooperation with Chosun University and Seoil University.
