Promoting yellow brick as the center of high value added eco friendly industry
Supplying it to home and abroad through continuous R&D and innovation
Dreaming to build happy pedestrians nationwide
SAMHAN CERAMICS ONE Co., Ltd.
President SamHwa Han

"Soil is the source of all beings"
Towards high value added industry by introducing facilities of advanced foreign companies

SAMHAN C1 has their headquarters in Daegu and a factory on 200,000 square meter land with $45m investment in Yecheon and is producing yellow bricks made of 100% soil. Brick industry was regarded as not promising before Han established the company in 1978. Han thinks that if brick industry is to develop and innovate, lavish investment should be followed. When he built the factory in Yecheon in 1990 he introduced the facilities of an Italian company Morando and when he built an additional factory in 2003 he introduce the facilities of a German company Lingl in order to systematize the manufacturing process. And Han's driving force actually came from his passion on soil. Han says "soil, in a word, is the source of life. All living things eat food from soil and become soil when die. This is repeating forever. It's important how this industry is related with people. People don't like if others harm them but people like if other are good to them."

Globalizing the quality of yellow brick through 100% automation equipment
Recognized from global market with ISO9001, KS, Q mark certifications
Chosen as No.1 Enterprise of Quality Guarantee System and Excellent Product from Public Procurement Service

Red clay has drawn attention as future building material in accordance with low carbon green growth and eco friendly building trend. Many red clay related materials were already developed in advanced countries such as US and Australia. SAMHAN C1 also succeeded in producing semipermanent products which have excellent freezethaw resistibility, durability, insulation, adjusting moist, removing odor, releasing farinfrared radiation, and absorbing and discomposing CO2. They also perfectly facilitated automation equipment covering from soil mulch removing, drying, plasticity to packaging and perfectly solved the problems of various size, color, smooth surface, high strength, distortion and crack. As a result, they acquired ISO 9001 in 1997 and various marks including Q, KS, GD, Innobiz, K and Environment Labelling. Also, they were chosen as No.1 Enterprise of Quality Guarantee System and Excellent Product from Public Procurement Service. They applied 1mm erro standard which is less than KS' 5mm erro standard to improve the quality of the products to be the top in the world and also has higher compression strength of brick for building material of 350§¸f/§² and brick for floor of 700§¸f/§² which is much higher than US' ASTM standard. Their products were used for many places in Korea including Daehakro, Seoul, Keimyung University, Yonsei University, Cheonggyecheon, Ilsan Kintex, Busan APEC Square, Haeundae Dalmaji Park, Daegu Stadium, Incheon Songdo International City, Ulsan Stadium, Daejeon University, Mokwon University, religious facilities, luxury villa and Country house. They are also pioneering overseas markets including Russia, China and Japan to export their products.

Continuous R&D and innovation as core elements of competitiveness
Han pointed out continuous R&D as his driving force to settle yellow brick industry in Korea. The investment in R&D is important to build competitiveness in the global market. Alongside himself regularly traveling around the world to learn the trend of the brick market and to experience the field, Han also sends more than 10 of his staff to visit brick advanced countries such as Europe, US and Australia every year. Han says "small and medium enterprises have comparatively less R&D fund but still they have to invest in R&D because there is limitation to be regionally protected by their home country in this global age. They rather have to actively study what the No.1 company in the industry is working on." The current government policy 'Creative Economy' is focused on the growth of regional and small & medium enterprises. But Han thinks that without sustainable R&D it cannot be achieved. Han has learned the fact through his 38 years of his career in the field that you cannot survive if you don't follow up current technical advance and change of market. Han says "we have to change and innovate to create something better. We have to throw away wrong  practices and accept good ones and this is the starting point of innovation and change. We have to grow but growth without internal stability is nothing but a suit."

Goal to make life space where people of the world can be happy
SAMHAN C1 is truly the No.1 yellow brick production company in Korea. Many people are living surrounded by these bricks every day. It provides agreeable interior and exterior and reduces energy bill by 11%. This is the result of Han's continuous investment and R&D. Actually, Korean government's Creative Economy is a perfect slogan for SAMHAN C1 as they applied innovative technology to their manufacturing process and are pioneering the overseas market. Han's creative passion on sustainable R&D enabled him to bear this fruit. Han says "my next goal is to make life space where people of the world can live in happiness. Seoul, for example, using yellow brick for building material itself can give people happiness. Also, there are 500,000 to 1 million foreigners are currently living in Seoul and if we make not only Seoul but also the cities nationwide with eco friendly red clay pavement brick, we can certainly give impression of our restfulness to foreigners." Power Korea wishes that Han and SAMHAN C1's dream will come true.
