날이 갈수록 각박해져 가는 세태 속에서 사람들은 '인성'의 중요성을 다시금 깨닫고 있다. 최근 연이은 사건사고들을 보면서 인성 교육의 부재를 다시 한 번 통감했고 우리들의 자성을 요구하는 목소리 역시 높아졌다. 특히 지난해 12월 29일 '인성교육진흥법'이 국회에서 통과되면서 국내 인성 교육은 상징적으로 전환점을 맞아 사회 곳곳에서 인성의 부활을 요구하는 목소리가 점점 높아지고 있다. 지난해 7월 14일 창립되어 이수성 전 국무총리를 총재로 하는 인성회복 국민운동본부는 전인교육을 통해 어린이를 행복하게 하고 청소년에게 꿈을 찾아주는 ‘인성교육’ 제도화, ‘인성회복’을 중점으로 하는 국민운동과 교육정책 수립, 가정과 학교, 사회에서 ‘인성’ 깃든 정책과 교육 실시, 도덕성과 역사의식, 국민에게 꿈과 희망을 주는 비전, 민족화해와 세계평화에 이바지할 철학을 갖춘 국가지도자 양성을 목표로 하는 단체다.
한편, 인성회복 국민운동본부의 노원 지부장을 역임하고 있는 권대한 대표는 자신의 역량을 펼쳐 유모차 커버와 시트․보온솜 등 다양한 제품을 만드는 와우베이비, 실버산업의 일환으로 노인용 보장구 등을 출시하는 (주)시오선, 100% 국내산 원곡통밀과 2분도 통밀을 사용한 친환경 건강빵 브레드플러스까지 불철주야 '더 나은 삶'을 위해 뛰고 있다.
건강과 휴식을 동시에 잡는 친환경 통밀 빵 '브레드플러스'

통밀의 씨눈에는 비타민 B와 E, 철분, 마그네슘, 아연, 크롬, 망간 등 우리 몸의 신진대사에 필수 영양소가 들어있고 섬유질과 식이섬유로 변비를 예방에 좋다고 알려져 있다. 도정과 정제 과정을 거친 흰 밀가루는 부드러워 입에는 좋으나 영양분의 섭취가 줄어들게 된다고 한다. 우리나라에서도 한 때 건강식으로 호밀 빵이 인기를 끌었으나 거칠고 퍽퍽한 식감 때문에 전 연령에게 폭넓게 받아들여지기에는 무리가 있었고, 권 대표는 호밀보다는 식감이 좋지만 영양소의 손실을 막은 통밀로 건강빵을 만들게 됐다.
브레드플러스는 지난달 17일 인성회복 국민운동본부의 기금 마련을 위해 일일 찻집&호프 행사를 열기도 했다. 지난 해 10월 수락산 자락에 신선한 통밀 빵과 달콤한 커피가 함께하는 '카페 휴'를 오픈했기 때문에 이 자리에서 행사를 진행할 수 있었다.
"겉으로 보기에는 빵을 팔고 커피를 파는 곳으로 보일 수 있지만 내면으로 들어가면 사람들이 지친 몸 쉴 수 있는 곳을 만들고자 합니다. 못 먹고 못 살 때는 일단 배만 채우면 됐지만 지금은 그렇지 않아요. 돈을 착취하는 먹거리 문화가 아니라 신선한 재료를 공급하면서 공생하는 먹거리가 되고 싶습니다"
브레드플러스의 제품은 전 제품에 100% 국내산 통밀과 유기농 황설탕, 함초소금, 저염버터 등 몸에 좋은 재료만을 사용하며 48시간 저온숙성을 거쳐 일반 밀가루 빵을 먹기 힘들어 하는 위장이 약한 사람들도 쉽게 먹을 수 있고, 식사대용․간식용․다이어트용․유아용의 다양한 제품군으로 건강과 휴식을 찾고자 하는 사람들의 호응을 얻고 있다.
30년 경력의 제빵장에게서 제품을 공급받고 있지만 그의 브랜드와는 달리 권 대표는 독자적으로 브레드플러스를 만들었다. 같은 브랜드를 사용하게 되면 경쟁이 생길 것을 우려한 결과다. 또한 카페에서 파는 커피도 동티모르에서 공정무역을 통해 엄선된 100% 원두로서 중간 마진을 제하고 저렴한 가격에 품질 좋은 먹거리를 제공하는 권 대표의 행보는 결국 인성 회복, 양심의 회복으로 직결된다.
최고의 품질로 유아용품 만드는 '와우베이비'
친환경 소재로 소비자들에게 양질의 제품 제공해
권 대표가 독자적으로 사업을 시작하기 전에 그는 평범한 직장인의 삶을 살고 있었다. 중소기업부터 공기업의 자회사까지 수년간의 직장 생활을 거치면서도 그에게는 끊임없는 갈망이 있었다고 한다. '나라는 존재가 누구이며 엘리트 집단 안에서 살고 있는데 왜 행복하지 않은가'를 끊임없이 고민하던 권 대표는 "남을 누르는 것이 아니라 남에게 도움이 되고 그 사람들과 함께 살아가는 일을 한다면 내 가슴이 뛰고 기쁠 것"이라는 결론을 내리고 유아용품 사업에 본격적으로 뛰어들었다.
그 계기로 시작한 것이 세련된 디자인과 최고의 품질로 유모차 커버, 햇빛가리개, 무릎보온솜 등 유아용품을 전문적으로 만드는 '와우베이비'다. 기획, 디자인, 생산, AS 등 하나의 제품이 소비자에게 전달되는 전 과정을 모두 본사가 책임지는 통합시스템을 구축하고 안전을 최우선의 가치로 둔 기능성 제품 개발에 주력한 와우베이비는 곧 입소문을 타고 어머니들 사이에 선풍적인 인기를 끌게 되었다.
그 뿐 아니라 시중에 나오는 신제품 유모차들까지 전부 커버할 수 있도록 발 빠르게 제품 개발을 이어가며 시장의 속성을 빠르게 파악하고 인체에 무해한 친환경 소재를 사용하며, 부자재 하나에도 ISO 인증 제품을 고집해 소비자들에게 좋은 제품으로 다가가겠다는 의지를 관철시키며 권 대표만의 경영 철학을 완성했다. 그 덕분에 여러 기관의 안전성 시험에서도 좋은 결과를 기록했고 제품 특성에 맞는 디자인 기술 역시 인정받아 디자인등록과 특허까지 발 빠르게 완성해 나갔다. 또 2012년 (주)한경닷컴 중소기업브랜드대상, 2013년 헤럴드경제 대한민국미래경영대상을 수상해 그간의 공로를 인정받기도 했으며 지난해 3월 청주시 흥덕구에 오프라인 매장을 열기도 했다.
노인층 관련 제품 개발에 박차 가하는 (주)시오선

권 대표는 또 한편으로 (주)시오선을 통해 노인층 관련 프로그램과 제품 개발에 박차를 가하고 있다는 소식을 전했다. 시오선(示-悟-宣, SEA-OH-SUN)의 의미는 세상에 도움이 되는 상품을 개발해 이를 베풀고 나누는 홍익기업의 취지를 담은 것으로, 모든 창조의 시작인 바다와 태양을 심벌로 조화롭고 창조적인 기업이 되고자 하는 권 대표의 의지를 담은 것이다.
(주)시오선이 주력 개발하는 것은 생활 안전용품, 그 중에서도 노인들을 위한 실버 안전용품이다. 예를 들어 노인들의 필수품이라고 할 수 있는 지팡이 등의 보장구가 본연의 역할에는 충실하지만 깜깜한 밤이 되었을 때 사용자를 보호할 수 있는 수단 역시 필요하다는 것이 권 대표의 생각이다. 이에 안전 반사를 가미해 밤에도 가시성이 있는 제품을 만들어낸다는 것이다.
"사람들은 단순히 오래 사는 것이 아니라 건강하게 오래 살다 가는 것을 목표로 합니다. 결국 삶의 질을 높여서 행복을 누리다 가는 것이거든요. 삶의 질을 높여서 왜 건강하게 오래 살아야 하고 어떻게 하면 되는가 하는 프로그램을 개발하고 있고 그것을 현실화시키려고 합니다"
또한 권 대표는 "뉴질랜드 원주민 거주 청정지역에서 자라며 원주민들이 그 잎으로 질병 치료를 했다고 전해지는 약용식물 '가와가와 나무'를 이용해 자연치유가 가능한 약재를 만드는 것이 현재의 목표"라는 말을 전했다. 불필요한 화학적 약재 없이 항생제 역할을 대신하는 것으로 알려진 가와가와 나무를 수입하기 위해 권 대표는 현재 재배 가공을 위한 절차를 밟고 있으며 현재 샘플을 들여와 분석하는 과정에 있다. "아직 초기 단계이기 때문에 대량생산과 판매는 조금 여유를 두고 진행할 것"이라는 말을 전하는 권 대표는 앞으로 더욱 성장할 실버 시장에 더 큰 활력소를 던져줄 수 있을 것이다.
한편 사람들을 이롭게 하는 여러 사업체를 운영하는 활동 외에도 (사)노원국학원 원장, 민주평화통일 자문위원, 강북구생활체육회 부회장 등의 다양한 활동으로 인성 회복의 길을 모색하고 있는 권 대표는 "죽을 때까지 건강하게 사회와 소통하면서 즐겁고 행복하게 살다 가는 것이 제일 좋은 꿈이 아닌가 싶습니다"라는 말로 인터뷰를 마무리했다. 자신이 뜻하는 바를 실천하기 위해 누구보다도 부지런히 전력을 다하는 권 대표의 마음가짐으로 인해 대한민국의 인성이 바로 서게 되는 그 날을 기대한다.

As the world is turning into hard-hearted the importance on humanity is being aroused among people. The recent accidents in a row tell that how much we lost our humanitarianism and the people worried about the absence of humanity education. The National Assembly passed the The Law on Humanity Education on 29 December last year as a solution. Also, The National Humanity Recovery Movement Headquarters, headed by the former Prime Minister Susung Lee, was established on 14 last July in order to systematize humanity education, recovery of humanitarianism, building related educational policy, morality, historic recognition, national vision and fostering the people who will contribute to reconciliation of the nations and world peace. Meanwhile, Daehan Kwon, who is the regional head of Nowon District of The National Humanity Recovery Movement Headquarters, is really working hard to run the infant product company 'Wowbaby', safety product company for elderly and disabled people 'Seaohsun', and eco-friendly healthy bread company 'Bread Plus' in order to make a better society.

The embryo of whole wheat bread contains vitamin B, E, iron, magnesium, zinc, chrome and manganese that can help the metabolism of our body. The refined white flour is smooth and good for mouth but the nutrient. Rye bread once was popular in Korea as a healthy bread but its tough and stuffy texture were not desirable. This is the reason Kwon started to provide whole wheat bread with better texture and nutrient. Bread Plus held a One Day Tea & Beer House to create a fund for The National Humanity Recovery Movement Headquarters on 17 last month at their 'Cafe Hue' around Surak Mountain opened in October last year.
"You can presume it might sell bread and coffee on the appearance but once you get inside you might feel you can actually take a rest there. Filling up the stomach was our sole purpose in the past but not anymore. I want to make a healthy eating environment rather than solely making profits through the cafe."
All the products of Bread Plus are made of 100% domestic whole wheat and organic brown sugar, salicomia herbacea salt and low sodium butter through a 48 hour low temperature fermentation. It is good for those who has a weak stomach or are interested in healthy food.
Although the ingredients are provided from a master baker who has a 30 year experience in the field, Kwon created his own brand Bread Plus on the consideration that if he uses the same brand a competition might happen. The coffee sold in the cafe also is 100% fair trade imported from East Timor which Kwon removed the intermediate profits in order to provide it at a cheaper price. This is part of Kwon's contribution for the recovery of humanity and conscience.

Kwon used to lead a normal life before he started the business. But he always had a question in his heart about who he was and why he was not happy even though he belonged to an elite group in the society. He concluded that he could be happy if he could do something to help others and to live together and this was the reason he started the infant product company Wowbaby which provides high quality and sophisticatedly designed baby goods. He built a system to mange the whole process from manufacturing to selling to delivery by the headquarters and his top priority is safety. The company soon was spread from mouth to mouth among the moms.
Wowbaby only uses eco-friendly materials unharmful to body and has ISO Certification on all products through product development and market analysis. As a result, Wowbaby achieved good results from various qualification tests and their specialized designs were patented. They were awarded The Grand Prize from Hankyung.com's Small & Medium Business Awards and The Korea Future Management Awards from The Herald Business. They also opened a store in Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju last March.
Seaohsun pushes forward to the development of elderly related products

Kwon also is developing elderly related products through his another company Seaohsun. The meaning of Seaohsun ((示-悟-宣, SEA-OH-SUN)) is the harmony of the sea and the sun which Kwon wants to build a harmonious and creative company through developing helpful products for human; public benefit enterprise spirit. The main products include advanced assisting devices for elderly people. For example, the cane Kwon makes has lighting function so that the person can also use it at night. "People not just want to live longer but healthily. And we are developing the helpful products to support their needs."
He also said "If people pay attention to the 'natural healing', which is the function that human body has self healing capability inside, and depend not on the medicine or hospital much, people can healthily live longer and reduce the cost of medical expenses both at home and the national level." Meanwhile, Kwon is currently active as the principal of Nowon National Academic Institute, a member of advisory of Peaceful National Unification, and a mentor of Benjamin Humanity School of Gifted Children to revive humanity in our society. Kwon said "the best dream is to healthily communicate with the society and to be happy until we die." Power Korea hopes that Kwon's efforts will contribute to building humanity in our society.
