삼영기업의 일과는 이보성 대표 소유의 편백 산림에서 온 편백나무를 전남 고흥의 편백 공장에서 다듬는 데서 시작된다. 3대째 가업을 잇고 있는 이 대표는 국내 최초의 편백과 결합한 친환경 토굴한옥, 편백가구, 특허 받은 친환경 건축내장재를 생산하고 있다. ‘도시생활의 건조함과 삭막함을 도시로 불러온 자연 공간으로 해소하다’라는 캐치프레이즈처럼 기업의 목표를 자연치유 힐링 하우징/생활용품으로 잡고 있다.

피톤치드는 환경호르몬의 영향 없이 탈취 정화되며 중추신경계의 진정작용과 숙면유도, 코르티졸 감소와 스트레스 완화, 아토피성 피부질환 개선과 항균작용, 대뇌피질 활성화와 학습능력 항상효과를 인정받고 있다. 온돌 문화로 인해 세계에 널리 알려진 한국의 흙과 피톤치드 효과를 한국 고유의 손길로 가공하는 이 대표의 경영철학에 따라 50여 종의 상품은 수제로 제작된다. 작지만 강한 삼영기업은 이미 1968년 지진보호 토굴방을 일본에 수출하여, 현지공방을 운영하며 한국 기술의 우수함을 알렸다.

황토내장재는 장기보존용 화학제가 들어있지 않아 진정한 친환경의 자부심이 있다” 가구의 경우, 황토 불연내장재로 된 판재, 바닥재, 도료페인트로 총 10종의 특허를 받았으며 편백옹이온열침대와 편백원목침대, 식탁, 의자, 좌식 및 소형탁자, 의자를 갖추고 있어 도시생활을 하면서도 피톤치드형 실내가구일체를 세팅할 수 있을 정도다. 이 대표는 현대 건축자재의 문제점을 간파하고, 애써 가구를 갖춰야 할 만한 환자, 도시형 주거지의 단점이 건강과 직결되는 연령층을 위해 친환경 건축내장재 개발에도 힘썼다.

“Calling the nature to the city environment with sun tree phytoncide"

But Samyoung Company manufactures sun tree in a natural way and Power Korea has met the CEO Lee and his Togul bed and eco-friendly sun tree products.

A day of Lee starts with trimming sun trees at the factory in Goheung, South Jeolla Province, delivered from the self-owned sun tree forest. It is a family business which has come down to the third generation and Lee is making Korea's first eco-friendly sun tree Togul (underground tunnel) Korean house, sun tree furniture and patented eco-friendly building materials.

His catch phrase is "Solving the dryness and dreariness of city life with the natural space" and his goal is to make healing house and healing daily goods. Phytoncide is deodorized and purified without endocrine-disrupting chemicals and is effective on sedation of the central nervous system, inducing sound sleep, reducing cortisol, easing stress, improving atopy related disease, anti-bacterial effect, activation of cerebral cortex, and raising learning ability.

It is Lee's philosophy to manufacture Korean soil and phytoncide through the traditional Korean ways and he is making 50 kinds of products by hand. A small but strong company Samyoung exported their Togulbang to Japan in 1968 and spread the excellent Korean technology by running a workshop in the local. Lee had three intaglio and relief rhinoceros' horn-related patents in 2003 and registered trademark of eco-friendly red clay products and interior materials in 2013. The representative products are healthy red clay interior materials which were made based on sun tree and red clay that contain the four seasons' energy of land and water.

They provide four kinds of beds include Togulbang, Chungjeonbang (recharge), Chiyouband (healing) and Hwantobang (red clay) all made of sun tree. You can assemble the bed in 10 minutes with the manual provided. The inside is made of red clay and releases abundant anion and far-infrared radiation to help metabolism. Togul Korean house is a bunker style bed and can increase the temperature up to 70℃. It is more valuable as it can be used for sun tree forest experience which reproduces floor heating, and for capsule room. The Principle of Stone Ice Storage adjust thermal and coldness, cuts harmful air and the poison of cement and radon, and removes  formaldehyde, toluene, benzene, and xylene. 

"Our products do not use piece or nails. We assemble it like a Korean house. It can be loaded in an elevator so that you can use it for high buildings. Red clay interior material dose not contain preservative chemicals and we are proud of it as a true eco-friendly product." Their furniture had 10 kinds of patents for the plank made of red clay nonflammable interior material, the floor material, and the paints and coatings. Their product lines include sun tree anion heating bed, sun tree hardwood bed, table, chair, idleness chair, and small table and chair so that you can set up whole of your furniture with phytoncide style.

Lee saw through the problems of modern building materials and produced eco-friendly building materials instead. "I use elm tree, seaweeds, and pyroligneous liquor combined with straws and Korean papers for live red clay wall plank and floor board based on the technology which has been passed down to me." The beautiful five color wall paper which is popular among interior designers and the natural live red clay paint which prevents mold and odor are being produced without any harmful substance according to Lee. He also developed healing daily goods such as sun tree liquid and oil, sun tree water and its shampoo, wash and soap, acupressure sleeper, air freshener and ball pillows.

The Korea's first sun tree washing liquid is popular among housewives and sun tree oil perfume is to be exported to the US. Lee entered Shinsegae Department Store in the daily goods section in May last year, exported 140 tons of sun tree water to China, and is planning to find new markets from 2015.  Lee does not mass produce in order to keep the quality but focuses on recruiting regional distributors and affiliated stores nationwide. "We compete by 4 kinds of Togul, 7 kinds of furniture, 5 kinds of red clay, 30 kinds of healing products. We have our own distribution center and people can buy our products through Togul Cafe. Also, our products have an excellent marketability for store owners. We will manage the affiliated stores through our training system, market research, bilateral investment cost discussion, sharing the unit price, and follow-up management." Lee showed his determination to lead his company to be a reliable company in the global market.
