Sinzisikin(modern intellectuals) Project has been going on for 11 years. It finds people who have been working hard for creation and innovation without giving up regardless whether the world recognizes them or not. These people are the modern intellectuals who have achieved something in their field and are creating value-added in this knowledge competitive society. 

Inspired by Alvin Toffler's 'The Third Wave' Sinzisikin Movement started in 1998 to create new ideas and value and to share it with society. Cheol Soo Ahn who developed Korea's first computer anti-virus programme V3, Um Hong-gil who climbed Himalaya(8,000M, 16 peaks), Jongmin Lee who developed super pepper, Heeah Lee who plays the piano with four fingers, Oryeong Lee who is an advisor of Jungang Daily, Byeongtae Jeon who is the chancellor of Konkuk University Chungju Campus, Honggun Yoon who is the chairman of Genesis and Andrea Kim who was a top Korean fashion designer have all been chosen which means it is a really honourable qualification.

And it is quite unusual that co-presidents Taeho Um and Jihae Lee were both chosen as Sinzisikin as they are husband and wife. They gave a birth to the world's first wearable medical device which fulfilled the needs for beauty and health in a product. They achieved high scores in learnability of knowledge for product & brand, creative applicability, innovative methods, creating values, social contribution, possibility for future development in this year's Sinzisikin.

Due to launching a new branch in Hong-Kong, they are being swamped with inquiries on exports recently. This popular Doctor Corset actually is the result of Lee's unremitting effort ever since she was inspired by Japanese 'Body make up foundation' 15 years ago. Lee was unrivalled in sales performance and professionalism in the underwear industry but she was feeling doubts about the underwear's functional limitations and customers' negative feedback and eventually quit her high salary position to develop an innovative product.

It is really difficult to keep our body in the right shape during life time. Lee said that she researched based on the western & eastern medicine that tells keeping the spine and pelvis straight can increase immunity and helps metabolism & blood circulation. She thought that 1 or 2 hours of exercise could not make the right body shape and felt the need of the product which can provide an environment to keep the body in the right shape while we are wearing it.

She changed the concept of a medical device for spine patients to be a life device for everybody to wear in daily life and focused on commercializing the product through a customer experience store. As a result 12 new branches were opened nationwide this year only with the surge of business inquiries. 

What made the start-ups to choose Doctor Corset?

They said that the product is patented, has a great function, effect and customer satisfaction, invites new customers and creates more profits, and they reduced the initial cost to open a store, introduced a co-start up system by forming a regional community. As a result, many start-ups are recommending this business to their friends and families to grow into a family business. In a word, it is causing a sensation in the start-up market.

Um carried out many researches on spine guard, pelvic medical device and pelvic belt and finally developed Doctor Corset and succeeded commercializing. Lee is planning to expand the 'Vision Center' which is a customer experience shop. She said "the vision center is carrying out 3.3.3. Project: 'action for 3 days', 'change for 3 weeks', and 'habitualization for 3 months'. We share the experience through this project. We have a goal to open 300 stores nationwide to contribute for spine health."


Doctor Corset obtains FDA's medical device certificate for the first time in Korea

Completing a strong brand image by working together with the health & beauty industry


Doctor Corset obtained a patent(No. 10-1420061) for 'Spine Guard Underwear' last July for the first time in the world, and also obtained US FDA's Class 1 medical device certificate as a guard clothing in December. Um said that he will keep their excellent intellectual property right and is progressing an overseas patent application. He said "the importance of correct posture is becoming a global topic because modern people are exposed to spine diseases due to the increasing number of smart phone and computer users. Doodream is planning to expand its business to Southeast Asia, North America, Middle East, China and Europe based on our innovative technologies." 

Doodream Creative is also planing to launch a franchise 'Health Diet Cafe' from 2015. They will combine Doctor Corset with strategic contents to create new fields like diet & beauty, men's body correction market and obesity diet market which have been a blue ocean. The are also considering to enter the large distribution channels to strengthen the brand value of Doctor Corset and to do their best to improve the product function through industry-academic cooperation. They are working with IT companies to connect the product with health care applications to develop wearable corset loaded with correction function. The two Sinzisikin's creative strategies and ideas will brighten up Korea's creative economy.
