삼성전자 ‘갤럭시 노트4’, ‘갤럭시 노트 엣지’ 친환경 제품 인증 획득

대화면 스마트폰 시장을 주도하고 있는 삼성전자의 갤럭시 노트 시리즈가 스마트폰 친환경 트렌드도 주도하고 있다. 삼성전자 갤럭시 노트 시리즈의 최신작 ‘갤럭시 노트4’가 한국을 비롯해 미국, 영국, 러시아 등 총 4개국에서 친환경 인증을 획득했으며, ‘갤럭시 노트 엣지’는 일본에서 인증을 획득했다. 특히 ‘갤럭시 노트4’는 한국에서 스마트폰 최초로 한국환경산업기술원으로부터 저탄소제품 인증을 받았다. ‘갤럭시 노트4’는 한국환경산업기술원이 시행하고 있는 총 3단계의 탄소성적표지 인증제도 중 2단계에 해당하는 저탄소제품 인증을 받았으며, 이는 1단계 탄소배출량 인증을 받은 제품 중에서 탄소배출량이 동종 제품의 평균 배출량보다 적은 제품에만 부여되는 것이다. 이러한 성과는 ‘에코디자인 프로세스’와 ‘친환경제품 등급제도’ 등 삼성전자의 지속적인 친환경 제품 개발 노력의 결과이다. 

삼성전자는 2004년부터 도입한 에코디자인 프로세스를 통해 제품의 개발 단계부터 친환경성 평가를 실시하고 있으며, 이를 바탕으로 개발 모델별로 친환경성을 평가하는 친환경제품 등급제도를 운영하고 있다. ‘갤럭시 노트4’와 ‘갤럭시 노트 엣지’는 단말 자체에도 유해 물질을 사용하지 않았을 뿐만 아니라, 100% 재활용 종이를 사용한 포장 케이스, 재활용 플라스틱으로 만든 충전기 케이스, 석유 용제가 포함되지 않은 콩기름 잉크로 인쇄한 매뉴얼 등 제품 전반에 친환경 소재를 적용하고 있다. 삼성전자 관계자는 “갤럭시 노트4와 갤럭시 노트 엣지는 우수한 성능과 디자인뿐 아니라 삼성전자의 친환경 제품 개발 노력과 기술력이 집약된 제품”이라며 “앞으로도 업계 최고 수준의 프리미엄 친환경 제품 비중을 더욱 확대해 나갈 계획”이라고 말했다. 

삼성전자, ‘갤럭시 탭S 광대역 LTE-A’ 출시

삼성전자가 현존하는 이동통신 중 가장 빠른 광대역 LTE-A를 지원하는 ‘갤럭시 탭S 광대역 LTE-A’ 10.5형을 3일 출시했다. 지난달 7월 출시된 ‘갤럭시 탭S’는 초고해상도 WQXGA(2560x1600, 16:10) 슈퍼아몰레드(Super AMOLED) 디스플레이를 탑재해 최상의 보는 경험을 제공하고, 얇고 가벼운 디자인으로 소비자와 미디어의 호평을 받아왔다. 

이번에 출시되는 ‘갤럭시 탭S 광대역 LTE-A’는 기존 LTE보다 3배 빠른 속도의 ‘광대역 LTE-A’ 서비스를 지원해 고용량의 멀티미디어 콘텐츠도 빠르게 다운받아 시간 부담을 최소화 해 즐길 수 있다. 광대역 LTE-A는 이론적으로 최대 225Mbps의 속도를 지원하며, 이를 통해 1분 동안 MP3 음악(4MB) 최대 421곡, e-북(5MB) 최대 337권, 1분짜리 동영상(40MB)은 최대 42편까지 다운로드 받을 수 있다. 삼성전자는 ‘갤럭시 탭S 광대역 LTE-A’의 선명한 디스플레이와 빠른 데이터 속도를 적극 활용할 수 있는 다양한 콘텐츠와 서비스도 선보인다. 20여 종의 매거진을 편리하게 즐길 수 있는 디지털 인터랙티브 매거진 서비스 ‘페이퍼가든(Papergarden)’을 비롯해 영화와 VOD 서비스를 제공하는 ‘삼성 비디오’, 외국어 어학 강좌 서비스 ‘EBS Edu ON’, ‘아트앤스터디 인문학 365’ 등을 ‘갤럭시 기프트(Galaxy Gifts)’로 제공한다. 이 밖에도 ‘갤럭시 탭S 광대역 LTE-A’는 멀티 태스킹 기능인 ‘드래그 앤 드롭(Drag&Drop)’을 지원해 통화를 하면서 이미지나 텍스트, 웹 주소 등을 문자 메시지로 바로 전송할 수 있다. 삼성전자 관계자는 “‘갤럭시 탭S 광대역 LTE-A’는 광대역 LTE-A의 놀라운 속도와 ‘S 아몰레드’의 생생한 화질을 통해 언제 어디서나 최상의 보는 경험을 선사하는 프리미엄 태블릿”이라며 "앞으로도 세계 최고 수준의 모바일 기술력을 바탕으로 더욱 풍요로운 소비자 경험을 제공하는 제품을 꾸준히 선보일 것”이라고 말했다. 

Galaxy Note 4 and Edge to obtain eco-friend certificate

Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Note series is leading the eco-friendly trend. Note 4 obtained eco-friendly certificate from S. Korea, US, UK and Russia and Edge obtained it from Japan. Especially Note 4 obtained a second level low carbon product certificate for the first time in Korea from Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and this means that Note 4 emits less carbon than first level products based on the 3 level carbon emission index. It is the result of Samsung Electronics continuous efforts to develop eco-friendly products through 'eco-design process' and 'grading system for eco-friendly products'.

Samsung Electronics introduced eco-design process in 2004 and has been implementing the evaluation from the development stage and applying the grading system according to the models based on this evaluation. Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Edge do not use any harmful substance but used 100% recyclable paper pack, charger case made of plastic, and the manual made of soybean oil but not fossil fuel. An official said "Note 4 and Edge have excellent performance and design as well as state of the art eco-friendly technology. We will keep expanding eco-related premium products to lead the industry."

Galaxy Tab S LTE-A released

Samsung Electronics released Galaxy Tab S LTE-A 10.5 which supports the fastest  LTE-A among mobile communication on 3 November. Galaxy Tab S, released in July, is loaded with ultra HD WQXGA(2560x1600, 16:10) and Super AMOLED display to provide optimum viewing experience and praised for its thin and light design from the consumers. 

But Galaxy Tab S LTE-A provides 3 times faster speed than existing LTE and can download high-capacity contents at high speed. Theoretically LTE-A supports up to 225Mbps speed and can download 421 MP3 songs (4MB), 337 e-books (5MB) and 42(40MB) 1 minute videos in a minute. Samsung Electronics also provides various contents and services which can be used through Galaxy Tab S LTE-A including 'Digital interactive magazine service(20 kinds magazines)', 'Papergarden', 'Samsung Video', 'EBS Edu ON for foreign language service', and 'Art & Study Humanities 365' which are provided as 'Galaxy Gift'. The tab also supports the multi tasking function 'Drag & Drop' so that the users can transfer the contents straight away. An official said "this is a premium tablet which offers amazing speed and screen resolution and we will continue to develop the best products based on our world's top mobile technology in order to provide new experience for our customers."
