The center to choose 11 companies for Small but Strong Business Promotion

33 companies to be preliminary hidden champions


The Federation of Korean Industries' Small & Medium Business Cooperation Center chose 11 small & medium companies for 'The 4th Small but Strong Business Promotion including Hyudai Glass and Biocera on 20 last month at the FKI hall. It was participated by 40 people including the chief director of the center Seoungchul Lee and the chairman of Management Advisory Chungwoong Jang. The chosen companies, among 236 companies who received business mentoring and management doctor system from the advisory, achieved high scores in financial solvency and the passion of CEO. Their average sales is $8.6m, the number of staff are 40, and they are producing various products from softwares, electronic components, food processing machines to industrial ceramics. As a result all 33 companies(1st:8 in 2011, 2nd:5 in 2012, 3rd:9 in 2013, 4th:11 in 2014) participate in the advisory programme. And the four companies will be checked on the conditions of their management, short & mid term management strategy, creating a vision, securing the market, developing or adopting new technologies and innovation plans from the advisory. The advisory committee visits once in every three months to check the result of their advice and will suggest practical improving methods.


Ministry & Center to advise on retirement plan

The Federation of Korean Industries' Small & Medium Business Cooperation Center will give advice on retirement plan for executives and staff members among the major companies which have more than 300 employees. The Center held The 2nd Briefings on Former Employee for Major Companies on 21 last month at the FKI conference center. It was participated by 60 people including human resources from 23 companies including Orion, Paris Croissant and Ahnlab. The event was hosted by Ministry of Employment and Labor and conducted by the Center and Korea Employment Information Service and it was held for the second time since the first one in last June which was participated by 33 major companies.

The director of the Center Kumsung Yang said "it's a serious matter that 7 out of 10 in 40s and 50s retire without any proper plan. If the company systematically supports for them to plan their lives after retirement they will not only feel safe but proud of their company which is also beneficial for the company. That's why we prepared this event." The secretary of the ministry Wonbok Kang said "The Former Employee Act will take effect from 2017 and its purpose is to prepare the employees to build a retirement plan while they are still in the company so that they can lessen their worries about the future. For this, the government will gather the information on job vacancies while carrying out appropriate training according to our Total Employment Plan for Middle Aged Policy." The doctor of Korea Employment Information Service Seoyoung Jang said "officer workers usually don't have time to think of or prepare for their retirement and that is why the companies need to provide appropriate programmes for them from understanding their aptitude, retirement plan, to finding a new job."
