인프라·건설 프로젝트에 한국 기업 유치에 나선 태평양동맹

- 전경련, 무역협회, 미주개발은행 「중남미 투자 페어」 공동 개최 -

전국경제인연합회는 지난 9월 2일(화) 여의도 전경련 컨퍼런스센터에서 태평양동맹(The Pacific Alliance) 회원국 기업인과 주한대사, 국내 건설, 플랜트 관련 기업인 등 약 180여 명이 참가한 가운데 무역협회, 미주개발은행(IDB)과 공동으로 2015 중남미 아메리카 투자 페어(Latin America Investment Fair)를 개최했다.

프로젝트 설명회에서 태평양동맹 4개국 투자유치기관 대표들은 우리 기업들에게 자국의 개발 프로젝트를 소개하고 참여를 요청했다. 멕시코건설협회 라파엘 리세아 알바레스 대표는 “멕시코는 2018년까지 에너지 부문에서 262개 프로젝트를 추진할 계획이며 그 규모는 약 3천억 달러에 달한다”고 했다. 페루투자청 카를로스 에레라 대표도 자국 정부가 2016년까지 추진할 예정인 27억 달러 규모 수력발전소 건설 프로젝트 등을 소개했고 콜롬비아와 칠레 대표들도 자국의 주요 프로젝트를 소개하고 우리 기업들의 참여를 요청했다. 무역협회가 주관한 기업 간 개별 상담회에서는 국내 26개 기업이 참가해 중남미 기업과의 구체적 비즈니스 협력 방안을 논의했다. 태평양동맹 4개국(멕시코, 칠레, 페루, 콜롬비아)은 反美, 보호주의 성향의 메르코수르 회원국과는 달리 실용주의적 자유무역을 지향하고 있다. 2012년 현재 역내 인구 2억 1천만 명, 2.7%의 낮은 물가상승률과 5%의 양호한 경제성장률을 보이고 있고, 4개국 모두 아시아, 유럽, 북미의 50개국 이상과 자유무역협정을 체결할 정도로 개방적이다. 우리나라도 올해 초 태평양동맹 옵서버로 참여했다. 이들 4개국은 우리나라 전체 對중남미 교역과 투자의 각각 40%, 20%를 차지하고 있고 우리와 FTA(멕시코 제외)를 체결했다. 전경련은 우리 기업의 중남미시장 진출 지원을 위해 2012년부터 매년 미주개발은행(IDB)과 중남미 투자 프로젝트 설명회를 개최해 오고 있으며 올 10월 주한 중남미 대사 초청 간담회, 내년 3월에는 부산에서 미주개발은행 연차총회와 연계하여 기재부와 공동으로 한-중남미 비즈니스 포럼을 개최할 예정이다. 

허창수 회장, 추석 앞두고 가락시장 방문해 우리 농산물에 관심 요청

- 영등포지역 독거노인에게 전달할 쌀 540포대 구매

허창수 회장은 지난달 3일(수) 오전 이승철 상근부회장 등 전경련 임원들과 함께 추석을 앞두고 농산물 수급이 가장 활발한 가락시장을 찾았다. 이날 방문은 최근 「우리 농산물로 추석선물 보내기 캠페인」 서한문 발송에 이어 추석을 앞두고 우리 농산물에 대한 관심을 환기하고 내수활성화를 지원하는 차원에서 이루어졌다. 이날 허창수 회장은 가락시장 내 쌀가게를 찾아 영등포 지역 독거노인들에게 전달할 쌀 540포대(1,500만 원 상당)를 구입하였다.

허창수 회장은 가락시장에 도착하여 이병호 서울시 농수산식품공사 사장에게 시장현황을 안내받은 후, 무배추시장, 청과시장을 차례로 둘러보았다. 청과시장 과일점포에서는 상인에게 제수용 과일을 비롯한 햇과일들의 수급 현황 등 이른 추석에 따른 어려움이 없는지 물어보았다. 허 회장은 식품종합상가 쌀가게를 방문하여 상인들을 격려하고 쌀 수급 현황 등을 안내받는 한편, 영등포 지역 독거노인 지원에 활용할 쌀 540포대를 주문하였다.

이날 동행한 이용우 사회본부장은 “전경련은 올해 들어, ‘문화가 있는 날’ 캠페인 지원, ‘농촌여름 휴가보내기’ 캠페인 전개 등 내수활성화를 위해 노력 중”이라며 “추석을 앞두고 이뤄진 이번 방문도 내수살리기 캠페인의 일환”라고 설명했다.

Pacific Alliance induced Korean enterprises to participate in infrastructure & constructing projects.

- FKI, KITA, IDB jointly held Latin America Investment Fair - 

FKI(The Federation of Korean Industries), KITA(Korea International Trade Association), and IDB(Inter-American Development Bank) jointly held Latin America Investment Fair on 2 September at FKI Conference Center. It was participated by 180 people including businessmen from Pacific Alliance(PA), and domestic construction & plants-related companies, and the US ambassador to Korea. 

At the briefing session, the representatives of invest promotion agency from the four PA member countries introduced their development projects and asked Korean companies' participation. Alvarez, the representative of Construction Association of Mexico, said "Mexico will launch 262 projects in energy part until 2018 and it is worth $300 billion." Herrera, the representative of Peru Investment Corp introduced their $27 billion worth hydroelectric power plant construction project to be done until 2016, and the representatives of Columbia and Chile also introduced their main projects and asked Korean companies to participate. The individual consulting between companies run by KITA was participated by 26 domestic companies to discuss about in-depth business cooperation with companies in Central and South America. PA's member countries (Mexico, Chile, Peru, Columbia) aim for practical free trade unlike the member counties of Mercosur which has tendency for anti-US and protectionism. With their regional population of 210 million in 2012, low inflation rate of 2.7%, and positive economic growth rate of 5%, they are open minded as they signed FTA with more than 50 countries in Asia, Europe and North America. South Korea also participated as a PA observer early this year. These four countries take 40% and 20% in South Korea's whole trade and investment with Central and South America and signed FTA with South Korea (except Mexico). FKI has been holding Central and South America investment briefing sessions with IDB every year to help Korean companies enter the market. FKI and the Ministry of Strategy and Finance are also expected to hold Korea-Central & South America Business Forum, in accordance with the Central and South American ambassadors invitation meeting in October, and the annual general meeting of IDB in March next year in Busan.

Huh visited Garak Market to promote Korean agricultural products

- Huh bought 540 sacks of rice to give senior citizens who live alone 

Changsoo Huh, the president of FKI (The Federation of Korean Industries), with Seungchul Lee, the full-time vice chairman and other board members of FKI, visited Garak Market for Chuseok(Korean Thanksgiving Day). The visit was to encourage people's interest in domestic agricultural products, and to support revitalization of domestic market, in accordance with 'Our Agricultural Products for Chuseok Gifts Campaign.' Huh bought 540 sacks of rice(worth $14,000) in Garak Market to give senior citizens who live alone in Youngdeungpo area. Huh was reported about the current conditions of the market from Byeongho Lee, the head of Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation, and had look around radish & cabbage market and fruit market. Huh asked marketeers in the fruit market about the balance of supply and demand of fruits and whether they have any difficulty. Yongwoo Lee, the head of social department of FKI said "FKI is trying hard to fuel domestic market by supporting 'Cultural Day' campaign and 'Summer Holiday in Agricultural Villages' campaign. The visit also was a part of promoting domestic market."
