측정은 산업발전의 기본이며 불량을 없애 비용을 낮추는 역할을 한다. 대규모의 토목공사부터 우주산업, IT?전자?통신 등 모든 산업은 측정과 교정을 통해 발전한다. 국내를 넘어 세계 최고의 기술력으로 측정분야의 산업을 선도하며 대한민국을 빛내고 있는 (주)한국계측기기연구센터의 오광석 대표를 만났다.

국내 최대 민간교정기관

(주)한국계측기기연구센터는 측정 전 분야에 종합적이고 체계적인 서비스를 제공하고 있는 측정 전문 기관이다. 2001년 3월에 ‘대한전선’에서 분사하였고 그 해 7월에는 국가 교정기관 최초로 KOLAS(국제 공인 교정기관)를 무결점으로 인가받았다. 7차례나 정밀측정대회에서 은상 및 동상을 받으며 2005년에는 산업훈장 수상, 서울신문사 주최 '고객 만족 대상'까지 수여하는 등 짧은 기간 내에 급성장을 이뤄냈다. 현재 안양, 당진, 아산 3개 지역에 국제공인교정기관을 설립하였고 올해 6월에는 베트남 하노이에 지사를 설립, 베트남에 진출한 국내 기업에 국제공인교정을 지원하고 있다.

이렇게 급성장을 이룬 비결에 대해 오 대표는 "인간 중심의 직원을 아끼는 기업 문화"가 이유라고 말한다. 전 직원을 대상으로 매년 단합대회와 정기세미나 개최는 물론, 모범사원을 선발하여 해외연수를 보내주고 있다. 또한, 생일을 맞은 직원들에겐 파티를 열어주고 중?고등학교 및 대학생 자녀를 둔 직원에게 장학금까지 지원해 주고 있어 직원들의 만족도와 애사심이 매우 높다고 한다. "직원이 행복하지 않고 회사를 사랑하지 않는다면 발전할 수 없다."며 "직원의 복지를 위해 계속하여 노력할 것"이라고 오 대표는 말한다.

나눔의 실천으로 존경받는 대표 기업

오 대표의 직원 사랑은 '인간 중심의 기업'이라는 경영철학에 기반을 둔다. 직원에 대한 애정뿐 아니라 인류에 대해 따뜻한 가슴을 가지고 있는 오 대표는 (주)한국계측기기연구센터를 나눔을 실천하는 존경받는 사회적 기업으로 만들었다. 한국폴리텍대학교, 대림대학교, 한국산업기술대학교, 경기과학기술대학교에 기술인력 인재육성 장학금을 지원하고 있으며 분기마다 안양시장을 비롯한 지역 내 기관장들과 함께 교도소방문 및 무의탁노인, 소년소녀가장 돕기 봉사활동에 적극적으로 참여하고 있다. 그리고 시장을 선도하는 대표 기업으로서 2001년부터 매년 중소기업에 '정밀측정 기술교육'을 무료로 시행하고 매년 200여 명이 수료하는 등 사회적 기업으로서 나눔 실천에 헌신을 다 하고 있다.

특히, 오 대표는 대한민국의 미래를 책임질 대학생들에게 각별한 애정을 품고 있다. 경기과학기술대학교에 겸임교수로서 강의하고 있는 것도 그런 이유이다. 학생들을 위해 (사)한국계량측정협회의 지원으로 'KOLAS 국제공인교정교육'을 실시하고 있다. 여름과 겨울 매년 2회 방학 기간에 이뤄지는 교육으로 올해 8월에는 40여 명의 대학생이 교육을 통해 수료 및 합격을 하였다. "학생을 교육하는 것은 미래에 대한 최소한의 투자"라며 "앞으로 학생들이 글로벌 리더로서 활약하는 것이 나의 꿈"이라고 힘주어 말했다. 국내에 만족하지 않고 세계 최고를 지향하는 오 대표는 측정분야의 미개발 국가인 중동지방의 진출을 목표로 지금도 땀 흘리며 열심히 최선을 다하고 있다. 하나님께 받은 사랑을 이웃과 함께 나눌 줄 아는 오 대표의 앞날에 밝은 미래가 있음을 기대해 본다.

Gwangsuk Oh, the CEO of Korea Research Center for Measuring Instruments.

Measuring is the basis for the development of industry and plays a role to reduce the costs by avoiding faults. All the industry from engineering works, space industry, IT, electronics, and communication are advancing  through measuring and correction. Korea Research Center for Measuring Instruments has world's top technology and is making Korea proud by leading the measuring industry. Power Korea has met Gwangsuk Oh, the CEO of the center.

Korea's biggest private measuring center.

Korea Research Center for Measuring Instruments is a measuring specialized organization and provides total and systematic services. Fell from Taihan Electric Wire on March 2001, it was accredited as KOLAS(Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme) for the first time among national measuring organizations in July same year. They achieved rapid growth in a short period by winning the second and third prizes 7 times at the Precision Measuring Competition, and awarded the Order of Industrial Service Merit in 2005 and the grand prize of Customer Satisfaction Awards hosted by Seoul Newspaper. They established authorized international measuring organization in Anyang, Dangjin, and Ahsan, and a branch in Hanoi, Vietnam, and they are supporting authorized international measuring for the Korean companies in Vietnam. When asked about the secrets of a rapid growth, Oh attributed it to "people-centered and staff caring company culture". They are doing overseas training for the staff, a rally to strengthen the unity, regular seminars, and selecting a model staff for overseas travel with the family. They throw birthday parties and support scholarship for the staff who have middle, high, and university students. As a result, the staff satisfaction and royalty to the company is very high. Oh said "if the staff are not happy and don't love the company there is no advance. I'll do my best for the staff's welfare."

Representative and respected enterprise for practice of sharing.

Oh's staff caring is based on the management philosophy 'people-centered company'. Oh not only has his love for the staff but for the world and that is why he made Korea Research Center for Measuring Instruments as a respected social enterprise which practices sharing. He is supporting technical professionals training scholarship for Korean Polytechnics, Daelim University, Korea Polytechnic University, and Gyeonggi College of Science and Technology. Alongside the mayor of Anyang city and chiefs of organizations, Oh is visiting the prison and participating in helping the elderly person with no one to rely on and children of families without parents. In addition, Oh has been giving free 'precision measuring technology eduction' for small & medium companies since 2001 and 200 people have finished the course so far. Oh is particularly interested in university students who are the future of Korea. That is why he is giving lectures as an adjunct professor in Gyeonggi College of Science and Technology. Supported by Korea Research Center for Measuring Instruments, Oh is teaching 'KOLAS authorized international measuring course' which takes place twice a year during school vacations, and 40 students either finished or passed the course in August this year. Oh said "teaching student is the smallest investment for the future and it's my dream that the students will be active as global leaders." Oh's goal is to enter the market in the Middle East where the measuring field is not developed yet and he is doing his best for it. And Oh knows how to share the god blessed love with his neighbor and Power Korea is looking forward to a bright future for him.
