Lawmaker Na Gyeong-won selected as the Saenuri party leader for Seoul city

Saeunri members and nonmember committee heads from Seoul held a party meeting for Seoul on the morning of 25th last month and proposed lawmaker Na Gyeong-won, a successful candidate for Dongjak Eul in the last by-election, as party leader for Seoul. The prior chairperson of lawmaker Kim Seong-tae¡¯s term was until the last May 30 but belated selection of his successor held him responsible until June 4 local election and July 30 by-election. Then, over the post of his successor, there appeared some conflict between lawmaker Kim and nonmember persons such as Chung Joon-gil, committee head for Gwangjin Eul, etc. However, report has it that, in the party meeting for Seoul held this day, members took the lead in collecting the opinion for MP Na Gyeong-won, on which nonmember committee heads agreed. If lawmaker Na takes on the leader of Seoul municipal party, it seems difficult for her to become the head of party¡¯s innovation committee or appointed member of the supreme council. According to the Saenuri¡¯s constitution and structure, head of municipal and provincial party committee cannot hold another party post than chairperson and deputy chairperson of the national committee.
