지금 우리네의 퇴직 준비는 어떤가? 40대 후반에서 50대까지의 10여년은 인생의 절정기이기도 하지만, 많은 이들이 ‘제2의 인생’을 강요받는 시기이기도 하다. 새로 직업을 찾으면 좋겠지만, 그러지 못하면 어쩔 수 없이 은퇴해야 한다. 그럴 경우 보호막이 마땅치 않다. 국민연금이 그런 구실을 해 주면 좋겠지만, 그러기엔 구멍이 너무 커졌다. 노후생활 안정과는 거리가 멀다. 그 동안 일해온 것에 비해 퇴직에 대한 준비가 안된 것은 사실이다. 때문에 제2의 인생을 살아갈 로드맵이 필요한 사람들이 많아지고 있다. 수많은 예비은퇴자들을 대상으로한 강연중에서 유독 대한민국 성공학 강의의 1인자라 알려진 허태근 교장의 ‘제2의 인생 행복일거리 찾기’캠프가 눈에 띈다. 한번 뿐인 인생을 멋지게 살아가기 위해 그가 전하는 전인인생(全人人生)리더십의 지침지표를 이번 지면을 통해 알아본다.
진정 아름다운 꽃은 겨울에 핀다
‘은퇴 후의 삶’을 준비하기 위해 도움을 받을 수 있는 방법으로 뭐가 있을까. 우선 생각해 야 하는 것은 ‘앞으로 나아갈 방향설계 및 미래비전구축’일 것이다. 허태근 교장의 행복학교는 베이비부머로서 퇴직자나 예비은퇴자, 신사업구상 및 창업예정자들을 대상으로 양평군소재 ‘삶의 쉼표’ 연수원에서 지난 7월 21일부터 2박3일 일정으로 ‘제2의 인생, 행복일거리 찾기’라는 테마로 21명의 참가자와 함께 캠프를 진행했다. 첫째날은 ‘나의 정체성과 진로찾기’, 2일차에는 ‘나의 두 번째 명함만들기’ 3일차에는 ‘인생 RoadMap'을 그려보고 ’무엇을하고 살까?‘ 라는 질문에 해답을 고민하는 자리를 가졌다. 위와 같은 커리큘럼은 은퇴이후 새로운 삶을 찾고자 하는 퇴직자들에게 새로운 비전창조에 초점이 맞춰져 있으며, 한국은퇴문화연구원 김영국 원장, 정목교육가족 허태근 회장, Lee's Success Academy 이내화 대표등의 강사로 포진되어 있어 종합적인 미래방향에 대한 설계노하우를 전달해 준다. 허태근 교장은 “성공은 돈과 명예가 있다고 되는 것이 아니다. 모든 것을 감추어야 한다. 건강이 제일중요하다”, “사람마다 장점이 있다. 그 사람의 강점을 인정하면서 배워야 한다. 거기서 사람의 향기가 나며 따뜻한 사람의 냄새가 나야한다” “버는 것은 기술이요, 쓰는 것은 예술이다” 했거늘, 어떻게 쓰느냐에 따른 은퇴자의 자세를 강조하면서 이번 캠프를 통해 노후일거리에 대한 진로모색을 참가자들과 함께 소통하며 고민했다. 허 교장은 이들에게 마스터플랜을 위한 하나의 대안으로 자신의 미래 그리기를 권하도록 충고했다. 즉 사회적으로 유명하다고 자서전을 쓰는 것이 아니고, 누구라도 쓸 수 있는 인생 전체의 일기장을 작성해 보라는 것이다.
인생에서 성공은 우연이나 운명이 아니다. 이것은 완벽한 계획과 이에 따른 행동 그리고 성취라는 과정을 통해 오는 것이기 때문이다. 지금까지 막연하게 살아온 인생을 좀더 구체적으로 분석하고 준비할 수 있는 하나의 청사진 즉 마스터플랜을 마련해야 한다는 뜻이다. 허태근 교장은 “이 작업이 우선 되어야 은퇴 후 삶에 대한 비전 설정 작업도 가능하다. 행복학교를 통해 미래의 모습을 하나의 시트로 압축하도록 한다. 커리큘럼은 미래 모습의 결정화 작업을 돕도록 구성되어있다”고 설명했다.
평생동안 배움을 지속하도록 노력하라
그는 창조적인 도전정신과 아이디어를 가장 근본적인 ‘성공덕목’으로 꼽았다. 허 교장은 젊은 시절 그 자신의 성공과 실패를 통해 “가난하고 어려운 환경이라도 성공에 대한 확고한 집념을 가지고 노력하면 누구에게나 성공은 필연적으로 따라온다”라는 법칙을 바탕으로 HIT정신을 만들었다. 히트란 곧 성공이라는 뜻이다. 허태근 교장이 말하는 성공 공식은 단순하다. 무한 경쟁시대에 개인과 조직이 살아남을 수 있는 성공의 기본원리가 바로 ‘히트’다. 히트(HIT)는 마음을 움직이는 '가슴(Heart)', '머리(Idea)', '손발(Training)'의 키워드로 조합된 말이다. 히트란 인간관계 중심인 사회에서 똑똑한 사람보다 따뜻한 사람이 세상에 많은 네트워크를 가지고 있으며, 돈이 많아서 부자가 아니라 사람을 많이 가지고 있는 것이 부자라고 이야기 한다. 다시말하면, 똑똑한 사람보다는 따뜻한 사람, 베스트인 사람보다는 유니크한 사람, 타고난 사람보다는 극복하는 사람, 유능한 사람보다는 믿을 만한 사람, 혼자이기 보다는 더불어 사는 사람, 이런 사람이 진정 히트한다. 가슴으로 상대의 마음을 움직이고 머리로 아이디어를 내고 손발로 트레이닝하면 개인이든 조직이든 반드시 히트한다고 강조했다. 허 교수는 “평생동안 배움을 계속하라. 당신분야에서 지속적으로 배우고 향상하도록 하라. 자신의 지능을 근육으로 생각하고 쓰면 쓸수록 개발된다고 생각하라. 육체적 근육처럼 당신의 정신적 근육도 일하고 또한 늘리도록 하라”고 지침했다.
개인 성공의 최고 컨설턴트로서 은퇴자들을 위한 비전 제시

How are our preparations for life after retirement? The ten years between late forties and fifties is the climax of a life, but is also a time when many people are forced into a second life. If they can not find a new job, they will have to retire. In that case, they can not have protection. The national pension system is far from providing security in their old age. So, more and more people now need a road map for their second life.
Of all the lectures intended for would-be retirees, the most noticeable is the camp "Happy Jobs for a Second Life" held by principal Huh Tae-guen, known as the No.1 lecturer on how to succeed. This month, the Power Korea looked into his guides to the well-rounded life leadership.

What could be ways of preparing for life after retirement? First of all, we must plan for our forwarding direction and build future vision. Led by principal Huh, the Happy School held a camp at a training center in Yangpyong, named "A Comma in Life," for 2 nights and 3 days from Jul. 21. It was intended for the theme issue "How to Look for Happy Jobs in a Second Life", with attendees who are retirees or would-be retirees and start-ups-to-be from baby boomers.
On day 1, the theme was "My Identity and Life Path, and on day 2 "Making My Second Name Card." On day 3, they had an opportunity to find an answer to the question "How to draw a life's road map and what to live on?"
A comprehensive design knowhow on future directions was given by Korea Retirement Culture Institute's director Kim Young-kuk, Jeong-mok Education Family's chief Huh Tae-guen, Lee's Success Academy's representative Lee Nae-hwa, etc.
Principal Huh thought hard with the attendees about jobs in old age during the camp, emphasizing "Money and honor is not enough for success." "Health is most important." "Everybody has his or her own strengths. So, admit it and learn from it." "Making money is a technique, and spending it is an art, etc." He advised them to draw about their future. He said "In life, success is neither a coincidence nor a destiny", which means they must draw up a blue print, a master plan, to make a more concrete analysis of the life that has been lived so far without specific aims.
"They have to work on the job first, to build up vision about their life after retirement. Throughout this camp, they compacted their future visions into one sheet, and all curricular was organized to help them determine their future." explained Huh.

Principal Huh said creative challenging spirit and idea are important, but more important for success is diligence. He invented the HIT spirit, following the belief that everyone is sure to succeed if he or she endeavors with firm confidence in success even under difficult circumstances. HIT is the basic principle on which individuals and organizations can survive in the age of limitless competition. It is an acronym for heart, idea, and training that move your mind.
HIT insinuates the more warm-hearted have a wider network in the world than the smarter, and the rich are those who have more people than money. Huh stressed that an individual or organization can always succeed if they move others with their heart, come up with ideas from their head, and train themselves with their hands and feet, saying "Try to learn for your whole life. The more you use your intelligence, the more it develops like muscles."

Succeeding socially, economically and emotionally after many difficulties, principal Huh transfers his secrets of success to the young and middle-aged through books and lectures. It is in his "success" lectures based on these experiences where, unarguably, he displays his charisma. As he delivers lectures frankly and without exaggeration, the audiences are to get immersed in them, and give him standing ovations after the lectures. Principal Huh believes the program provided attendees with the amount of knowledge and wisdom they could have obtained through reading hundreds of books in their whole life, and helped them a lot to determine coordinates for their second life, while judging with their colleagues whether they have lived a successful life or not. He told this reporter that the first attendees are happy about the first program, waiting for the second.
