대통령, 까바꼬 실바 포르투갈 대통령과 정상회담 개최 및 MOU서명식 참가
지난달 21일 박근혜 대통령은 포르투갈 정상으로는 최초로 우리나라를 공식 방문한 「까바꼬 실바(Cabaco Silva)」 대통령과 정상회담을 개최했다. 회담 자리에서 박근혜 대통령은 “포르투갈 대통령으로서는 수교 이후 처음으로 공식방한을 하셨는데, 이번 방한이 양국 간의 관계 발전을 더욱 강화하는 데 많은 기여가 될 것이라고 믿고 있습니다.”라며 “양국이 다양한 분야에서 협력할 일이 많다고 생각한다.”라고 인사말을 전했다. 덧붙여 박 대통령은 “오늘 회담을 통해서 실질협력 강화 방안을 중점 논의해서 양국이 서로 호혜적인 결과를 얻게 되기를 기대한다.”며 오늘의 회담을 통해 협력관계를 강화할 것을 밝혔다. 이에 까바꼬 실바(Cababco Silva) 대통령은 “먼저 포르투갈에서 한국을 방문하게 해 주셔서 감사드린다.”며, “몇 년 전에 박 대통령님을 포르투갈에서 뵈었고, 당시 대통령 특사로 오신 그 기억을 소중히 간직하고 있다.”고 화답했다. 양 정상은 이번 정상회담에서 양국 간 교역·투자, 신재생에너지, 항공, 관광 등 제반분야에서의 실질적인 협력 확대 방안에 대해 심도 있게 협의하는 한편, 한반도·동북아 및 유럽 등 지역 정세에 대하여 다양한 의견을 교환했다.
회담 이후 이어진 MOU 서명식에서는 총 두 건의 MOU 체결이 이루어졌다. MOU 내용은 다음과 같다. ① 한-포르투갈 신재생에너지 및 에너지효율 협력 MOU: 양국 간 재생에너지 및 에너지 효율 분야 전반에 걸친 실무위원회 구성 및 전문가 상호 교류 ② 한-포르투갈 관광 협력 MOU: 양국 간 관광 협력 장려 및 관광 투자 촉진, 관광 인력 교류
MOU 서명식 이후 열린 공동 기자회견에서 박 대통령은 “포르투갈이 세계의 포르투갈어 사용국들과 다양한 협력을 강화해 오고 있다는 점을 감안해서 상호 경쟁력을 보유한 분야에서 합작투자 등 여러 방법을 통해 공동 진출을 모색해 나가기로 했다.”면서 “한국과 포어권 국가간에 다양한 협력 체계가 구축된다면 한-포르투갈 양국 간 호혜적 협력뿐만 아니라 포어권 국가들의 경제와 산업발전에도 기여할 수 있을 것이다.”고 밝혔다.
대통령, 한국중견기업연합회 출범식 참석
박근혜 대통령은 지난달 22일 오후, 한국중견기업연합회 출범식에 참석하여 중견기업연합회가 법정단체로 새 출발하게 된 것을 축하하고 함께 만찬을 가졌다. 박 대통령은 축사를 통해 우리 경제의 허리인 중견기업인들을 격려하고, 글로벌 히든챔피언 육성과 명문 장수기업 육성을 위한 성장사다리를 구축해 나갈 것임을 강조했다. 중견기업과 후보기업에 대해서는 기술개발과 판로개척, 금융ㆍ세제 등 지원을 확대하고, 중장기 5개년 계획을 수립하여 종합적ㆍ체계적으로 지원할 예정이다. 또한, 내수경제 활성화를 위한 노력에 중견기업인들이 동참하고, 사회공헌에 앞장서 줄 것을 당부했다. 한국중견기업연합회의 전신은 92년 창립된 한국경제인동우회이며, 지난 1월 제정된 ?중견기업 성장촉진 및 경쟁력 강화에 관한 특별법?이 7월 22일 시행됨에 따라 법정단체로 전환됐다. 향후 연합회는 중견기업에 마이스터고 및 특성화고 졸업생을 취업시킨 후, 기업이 원하는 기술습득 및 자격증 획득을 지원하는 일·학습병행 시범사업을 수행할 예정이다. 한편, 이번 행사에는 중견기업, 중견기업학회, 특성화고 교장·학생, 그리고 KOTRA, 기업은행 등 유관기관과 업종별 협력단체 대표 등 350여 명이 참석했다

President Park held a summit meeting with the Portugal's President Cabaco Silva on the 21 of last month. Park said in her greetings "he is the first president in history to visit Korea since we tied diplomatic relations with Portugal and I believe that this visit will contribute to strengthening our relationship. There are many things for us to cooperate in various fields. I expect both Korea and Portugal have agreeable results by discussing plans to strengthen cooperation through the meeting." In responds to this, President Silva said "I appreciate the invitation first of all. I have seen President Park in Portugal a few years ago when she came as a presidential envoy and I still treasure my memories of her." The two leaders had in-depth discussions on the plans to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, new energy, aviation and tourism, and also exchanged opinions on regional situations in Europe, the Korean Peninsular and North East Asia. After the meeting, they signed a MOU agreement which contains two items: 1. Korea-Portugal new energy & energy efficiency cooperation MOU: organizing a business committee & mutual exchange of experts. 2. Korea-Portugal tourism cooperation MOU: promoting tourism cooperation & investment and exchanging labor force in tourism. In the joint press conference, president Park said "Portugal has been strengthening cooperation with the countries which use the Portugal language and we will advance together in the fields where we have mutual competitiveness through various methods such as joint venture. If we build cooperation system with those Portuguese speaking countries we can contribute to the development of economy and industry of the countries as well as cooperation between Korea and Portugal.

President Park participated in the inauguration ceremony of Association of High Potential Enterprises of Korea in the afternoon on the 22 of last month congratulating that the association became an official organization and she had a dinner with them. In her congratulatory address, Park encouraged the mid-sized business owners who are the waist of our economy, and emphasized to promote global hidden champions and long-lived companies. Park will expand support for finance & tax deduction and finding a market & technical development for mid-sized firms and candidate enterprises. She also plans on establishing a medium and long term 5 year plan in order to support comprehensively and systematically. She asked the association to boost domestic economy and to take a leading role for social contribution. The former body of the association was Korea Economist Association established in 1992, and it is changed to the current association when the 'Special Law of Strengthening Growth and Competitiveness for the Mid-sized Companies' established in last January and enforced on July 22. The association is expected to hire graduates from meister high schools and specialized high schools and implement a demo business of work & study in order to support them to get certificates and skills that are required by business. 350 people participated in the event including mid-sized enterprises, Korea Academy of High Potential Enterprises, principals & students of specialized high schools, KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) and IBK (Industrial Bank of Korea).
