고려인·한국인 현대작가전시회 개막식 참석 및 전시회 관람
독립궁전에서 6.20∼7.16까지 4주간 개최
카자흐스탄을 국빈방문 중인 박근혜 대통령은 지난달 19일 오후 아스타나의 독립궁전에서 개최된 고려인 및 한국인 현대작가전시회 “사람들(People)” 개막식에 참석하고 전시를 관람했다. 개막식에는 카자흐스탄 무카메디올르 아르스탄벡 문화부장관, 우미르쉬나 아쎌 독립궁전 관장, 나자르바예바 다리가 하원 부의장, 예르메코브 톡타르 미술인연맹 위원장을 비롯하여, 이번 전시에 참여한 빅토르 문과 김동유 작가 등 100여명의 양국 주요 인사들이 참석했다. 또한 카자흐스탄의 젊은 민속 음악인들로 구성된 악단 “아르만”이 아리랑을 연주하며, 박근혜 대통령과 참석인사들을 환영했다. 한국의 국립현대미술관이 준비한 이번 전시회는 카자흐스탄과 우즈베키스탄의 고려인 화가 4명과 한국 현대 작가 12명의 작품 48점을 선보이며, 독립궁전에서 6.20∼7.16까지 4주간 개최된 후에는 우즈베키스탄에서 순회 전시를 가질 예정이다.
‘사람들’이라는 주제로 기획된 이번 전시는 고려인과 한국인들의 모습에 투영된 한민족의 어려웠던 삶과 역사, 이를 극복케 했던 희생과 인내, 그리고 미래를 향한 희망과 생명력 등에 대해 전달하고 있다. 하지만 디아스포라를 겪어온 한민족의 이야기에만 머무는 것이 아니라, 인류가 함께 공감할 수 있는 보편적인 사람들의 삶의 모습도 보여주고 있다.
카자흐스탄에는 1900년대 초부터 러시아 연해주에서 살다가 1937년 스탈린에 의해 강제 이주된 초기 한인 이민자들의 후예인 10만여 명의 고려인들이 살고 있다. 당시 카자흐스탄 사람들은 스탈린 집권과 대 기근으로 어려운 형편이었음에도 불구하고, 추위와 질병으로 어려움을 겪고 있던 고려인들에게 많은 도움을 주며 이들과 함께 했다. 이번 전시는 이처럼 역사의 한 시기를 함께 겪어온 카자흐스탄인과 고려인 그리고 한국인이, “사람들”이라는 주제로 문화적 공감을 나누기 위해 마련되었다.
참여 작가들은 저마다의 시각으로 한민족의 고통과 슬픔 그리고 그것을 극복하는 삶에의 희망과 생명력을 작품에 담아냈다. 카자흐스탄 출신의 빅토르 문과 김 세르게이, 우즈베키스탄 출신의 신순남과 니콜라이 박은 이민자의 후손으로 겪어온 어려웠던 현실을 화폭에 담아내며 한민족의 끈질긴 생명력을 보여주었다. 윤석남은 어머니 시리즈를 통해 약하면서도 강인한 우리 어머니들의 모습을 희생과 인내 그리고 이를 넘어서는 생명력에 대한 은유로 표현했다. 개막식에도 참석한 김동유 작가는 안중근, 유관순, 이중섭 등 우리 마음속의 영웅들을, 부활의 의미를 담은 무수한 나비의 중첩된 이미지로 표현했다. 특히 안중근의 손도장을 형상화한 작품에서는 잘려진 약지 다음의 새끼손가락을 무지개 빛깔로 장식함으로써, 절망적 상황에서도 미래에의 희망을 잃지 않고 자신을 내던진 안중근 의사의 조국애를 형상화하여 그려냈다. 그 밖에도 김지연과 장성은은 우리 한국인들의 닮은 꼴 자화상과도 같은 고려인의 모습을 사진 작품에 담아냈다. 또한 이만익의 작품은 어려운 현실을 견뎌내게 해주는 따뜻한 가족애를 보여주고 있으며, 서세옥은 서로 다른 ‘사람들’ 간에 관계를 맺으며 함께 살아가는 모습을 그물망처럼 연결된 ‘사람 人’의 모습으로 표현함으로써 고난을 극복하고 미래를 향하는 희망을 드러내고 있다. 박근혜 대통령은 “사람들” 전시회에 이어 같은 독립궁전 전시장에서 열리고 있는, 카자흐스탄의 민속유물을 전시한 ‘선조와 후손의 문화유산(Art of Ancestors - Descendants Heritage)’ 등의 전시회도 함께 관람했다.
Attending the ‘Russian Korean & Korean Modern Artists Exhibition’ Opening and watching it
Opening for four weeks from June 20 to July 16 at the Independence Palace
President Park, Geun-Hye who made a state visit to Kazakhstan joined the opening ceremony of ‘Russian Korean & Korean Modern Artists Exhibition’, which was titled ‘People’ at the independence palace in Astana on 19th of last month in the afternoon and saw the exhibition for a while. At the opening ceremony, there were a minister of culture Mukamediolr Arstanbek, a head director of the Independence Palace Umirshina Assel, a vice-speaker of the House Najarbayeba Dariga and a director of Foundation of artists Yermkov Toktar and some artists who took part in like Victor Moon and Kim, Dong-Yoo and they were about 100 at the event. Also, ‘Arman’ consisting of young Kazakhstani traditional musician played a song, Arirang to welcome all the attendees including President Park, Geun-Hye. As for this exhibition sponsored by Korea’s National Museum of Contemporary Art and four artists from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and 12 artists from Korea were invited. Their 48 works will be open to the audience for four weeks from June 20 to July 16 and then, the exhibition will have an exhibition tour in Uzbekistan. This exhibition under the title, ‘People’, is delivering Korean people’s difficult life and history and sacrifice and patience that make those suffers go through and a hope for the future and vitality etc. However, it is not only digging the story of Korean people’s Diasporas, also the ordinary life that all the people can feel empathy.
In Kazakhstan, about 100,000 of Russian Koreans who are descendants from the early Korean immigrants who were lived in Maritime Province in Russia from the early 1900 moved by force in 1937 by Stalin are living there. As for this exhibition, it was set up to share the cultural feeling of empathy for Kazakhstani and Russian Korean and even Korean who underwent a part of history together. Artists who joined that exhibition had their own views of it and expressed Korean pains, sadness and hopes and vitalities that overcame on their canvas. Victor Moon from Kazakhstan and Kim Sergei, Shin, Soon-Nam and Nicolai Park from Uzbekistan who are all descendants from the Korean immigrants put their ancestors’ hard life to express their strong eager for life. Artist Yoon, Seok-Nam showed Korean mother’s weak but strong features by his ‘Mother Series’, metaphorically.
Artist Kim, Dong-Yoo at the opening ceremony expressed our real heroes in our minds such as Ahn, Joong-Geun, Ryu, Gwan-Soon and Lee, Joong-Seob with tons of overlapped butterflies as images. In particular, the work to show Ahn, Joong-Geun’s figure print to make the rainbow colors on his cut pinky finger, so he wanted to express his patriotism in that way. Besides on that, artists Kim, Ji-Yeon and Jang, Sung-Eun put the Russian Korean that looks like Korean exactly in their photos. Moreover, artist Lee, Man-Ik’s works show some warm family affection that could support the hard life and artist Seo, Se-Ok shows a hope for the future by expressing their lives to making relationships among the people.
President Park, Geun-Hye also watched the exhibition, ‘Art of Ancestors - Descendants Heritage’ exhibiting Kazakhstan’s traditional heritages, which are opening at the same independence palace after the ‘People’ exhibition at that time.
