자연스럽고 세련된 디자인으로 성형 트렌드를 주도하다

최근 SNS를 뜨겁게 달군 ‘강남언니’와 시쳇말로 불리는 ‘성괴(성형괴물)’의 유행은 세계 최고의 성형 기술을 자랑하는 대한민국의 부끄러운 이면이다. 모두 성형외과들이 즐비한 강남에는 하나같이 똑같은 성형미인들이 거리를 활보하고 다니고, 무분별한 성형으로 얼굴이 망가진 그들의 모습이 꼭 괴물처럼 보인다는 것을 풍자한 말들이다. 한 TV프로그램에서는 성형미인들을 한 자리에 모아놓고 일반 시민들이 사진의 주인공을 찾는 실험을 했는데 대다수의 사람들이 똑같은 외모의 출연자들 중에서 사진의 주인공을 찾아내지 못했다. 상황이 이렇다보니 최근에는 재수술을 통해 더욱 자연스럽고 세련된 얼굴과 몸매를 갖고자 하는 사람들의 요구가 크게 늘어났다. 천편일률적인 디자인으로 자신만의 아름다움을 잃어버렸거나 잘못된 성형으로 재수술이 시급한 환자들의 방문이 줄을 잇는 곳, 연세J성형외과에서 박제연 원장을 만나봤다.   

첫 성형보다 어려운 재수술의 메카가 되다

한편 독보적인 의료 기술로 의사들의 선생님으로도 유명한 박 원장은 끊임없이 연구개발로 성형외과 수술기구를 5개나 출원했을 정도로 의료 장비 발전에도 견인차 역할을 해냈다. 그는 레지던트 시절 공학도가 아니면 하기 힘든 연구 성과들을 도출해내며 연속적 골 신연을 위한 실린더 및 이를 이용한 연속적 골 신연장치, 안면부 수술용 견인장치, 주사기용 지방 이동 장치, 피부 공여부 견인기, 헤모박 관 혈액 배출기 개발에 성공해 불필요한 수술시간을 줄여 감염, 출혈, 합병증을 크게 감소시킴으로써 성형외과 발전에 크게 기여해왔다. “앞으로도 끊임없이 학문에 정진하고 새로운 연구들을 계속적으로 시도하여 논문과 학회발표를 통해 의료 현장의 더욱 혁신적인 방법들을 고안해 나가고자 합니다.” 

격상된 한국의 의료기술 세계로 알려나갈 것  

최근에는 한국으로 성형 관광을 오는 해외 여행객의 숫자가 크게 늘어났다, 특히 외국인 환자 유치 의료기관으로 등록되어 있는 연세제이성형외과에는 중국, 일본, 싱가폴, 태국, 말레이시아, 베트남, 우즈베키스탄, 러시아, 몽고 등 유독 다양한 국적의 해외 환자들이 방문하고 있다. 무엇보다 박 원장이 영어, 독어, 불어 등 다양한 언어를 수준급으로 구사하고 있어 통역을 거치지 않고서도 원활히 수술상담을 받을 수 있어 해외 환자들의 만족도가 상당히 높은 것으로 분석된다. “한국의 성형 기술이 세계적인 수준으로 격상된 만큼 세계적으로 더 널리 전파해 나가고 싶습니다. 외국인 환자의 유치를 활성화 시켜 국가경제 발전을 도모하고 나아가 해외 의사들도 교육하여 진보한 성형 기술의 혜택을 더 많은 사람들이 누릴 수 있도록 노력할 방침입니다.” 

한편 대한성형외과학회를 통해 끊임없이 봉사활동을 이어온 박 원장은 지난해 대한성형외과의사회와 신한은행이 공동 진행한 ‘2013년 노인성 상안검 무료 시술사업’에 적극 참여하여 감사장을 수여 받기도 했다. “의료인의 한 사람으로서 당연한 사회 활동이라고 생각합니다. 앞으로도 꾸준한 사회봉사로 고객 여러분들께 받은 사랑을 사회로 환원하는데 앞장 서 나갈 것을 약속 합니다.” 

박 원장은 대한민국의 성형열풍이 작은 땅에서 제한된 자원으로 살아가야하는 한국인들이 경쟁적으로 교육열을 올려올 것과 마찬가지로 외적 조건도 하나의 경쟁력이라고 생각하는 정서가 팽배하기 때문에 나타난 현상이라고 정의했다. 또한 무자비한 미디어의 공격이 성형의 대한 막역한 기대감만 높여 다양한 부작용들을 초래해 왔다고 덧붙였다. 이에 박 원장은 무분별한 성형은 지양하고 검증된 성형전문의와 상담을 통해 자신의 상태를 정확히 진단받은 후 신중하게 수술을 결정하는 건강한 성형문화가 지향되어져야 한다고 강조했다.

Leading a trend of plastic surgery by natural and sophisticated design

Being a mecca of revision surgeries

Yonsei J Plastic Surgery has been bringing innovations to satisfy the customers' needs. They only pursued made-to-order plastic surgery and reflected the patients' opinions to the operation. Park increased the customers' satisfaction by carefully grasping their wants; what kind of surgery they have done before, what kind of surgery they want to have, whether they expect dramatic effects or whether they want naturalness. Director Park also contributed to developing medical devices as he himself filed 5 patents for plastic surgical instruments. He invented, in his resident years, a draw gear for face surgery, a syringeal fat shifter, a retractor for skin and a blood ejector, and reduced operation time to decrease infection, bleeding and complications significantly. "I'm going to keep inventing innovative tools and methods by studies and experiments.

Letting the world know Korea's medical technology

Recently, medical tourism in Korea has been increased dramatically. And Yonsei J Plastic Surgery is registered as a medical institution of attracting foreign patients. He also said that the craze for plastic surgery in Korea comes from the thought that the appearance is power like the craze for higher education which comes from limited land and resources they are living in. He added that the media took a great part to increase vague expectations about plastic surgery and caused many side effects. Park concluded that it is important to make healthy plastic surgery culture by avoiding indiscreet plastic surgeries but by consulting with qualified doctors who can diagnose a patient's condition carefully before doing an operation.
