Iron, and a tribute to the infinite light and heat

Iron is the only language professor Do Taegeun. He showed expanded his own language at Montmartre Gallery In January, in Busan and the 10th exhibition, at International Sculpture Festival in Seoul held in Arts Center opened in. In this exhibition, the artist said, "he made new forms of shape by combining the shape of symbols," As you can see in his expression, he is immersed in not the material change but a change of shape. Properties of blunt iron the past time and met him got vitality, which has been acting as a means to convey the artist's message. Already half a century has passed since the introduction of iron sculpture to Korea,

and it has been 25 tears since he demonstrated the infinite artistry of the iron. We met professor Do Tae geun who devoted his life to only iron sculpture and get into the only iron art world.

Symbolic of iron, secure visitors' individual space

Professor Do Taegeun who graduated from Dong-A University College of Arts and Sculpture and the same graduate school, has held a total of 10 solo exhibitions to the date, starting from were starting with the first  Solo Sculpture exhibitions in 1999, he is oneself and others authorized best mid-sized metal Sculpture in the republic of Korea. He is now fostering the younger generation Silla University as a professor of Fine Arts and in charge of a consultant and auditor of Busan Biennale Sea Art Festival. "The iron was all too familiar iron materials to me,  beginning to study art in the port city of Busan, where I  have naturally many opportunities to encounter the iron, which I tool advantage of in my works I continue to make works using iron whose material fits well with me." As there are many genres of course, in art there are also a variety of genres in sculpture and techniques and describe ways. In particular, the metal sculpture are very difficult to handle in the field of art, but is the artistic work with charm under the condition of a variation on the properties to derive the type of tangible charm from intangible things. Professor Do  has been doing various experiments. he pursued mainly abstract and representational work, purchasing the iron in a factory and cutting, bringing it to the lab drawing it into the action spontaneously. He lay stretched out  iron, on the floor to cut iron, heating, tapping, distorting, welding and through a series of steps to re-attach make the buzzword into his symbolization. This is implemented in such a way that a very restrained, and not describing the work by the artist but by leaving the privately-owned space and giving rooms for any interpretation to the audience. "I did not care about at all about the situation of the times and fashion. I have been be absorbed in working dealing with the sensory properties of iron only one concept and my goal was forming sculpture only one of the world's." He had to select the hard way of sensory seaming in the form of plastic rather than drawing the whole picture into the completion. So his work is never nice not recommended to the audiences. But ironically, the stranger visual conflict has given the power to peek for a long time his works.

To spread infinity's works world in open space

Professor Do Taegeun says, "the 'space' complete the final work." The biggest frame not the work but place In large installations in particular he seeks to. There are bound to change depending on the presence of any space rather than wholly obtain rather than artistic in itself. Noy until an understanding of the work of the exhibition space is equipped with the way of installation is diversified  can the sculptors deal with three-dimensional build more solid works of the world. "In this exhibition, first, create a frame, welded and then suspended the finished work through these processes I obtained iron's light. I think the expression of artistic inspiration show off at the moment when visitors feel heterogeneity between the original iron's heavy weight and the light melted in work." Especially at this time open singles' The Power of Steel (Iron's Power) was left structure Thoroughly eliminate the color and description with the confrontation with the structure of shape and non-shape. That is an enough assessment that it is sufficient to prove iron's strength, in its structure combined with fragments of iron, and variation of various properties and the relationship between space literally. Above all he wanted to break the stereotype of iron that was the author's intention even if you failed to interpret symbols that this work contains the artist's, through this exhibition, and you felt warm iron or light a proper decent watch is made. "With the research and experiment with iron for more 10 years just like this I will be able to finish out the rest of my life with powerful work activities. My work space has been gradually extended to overwhelm the scale and I will try to expand as much as I can. Beyond limitations of confined spaces the work is expected to widen to infinity in open space." Professor Do Tae geun wants his students to grow world-class artists and lead the artist circle of ROK, and we want professor Do to be the artist leading the audience and improve the visitors' expectations rather than the artist to be led by the audience in he future.
