Pictorial expression for the study of the inner side of human

Painter Jeong, Hwan

Jeong, Hwan¡¯s paintings are started with a discovery for the human beings. His paintings that more inclusive for people more than nature are sad but gorgeous, however, they are well expressed Korean emotions, which are trying to sublimate the sadness in art. First of all, some objective expression that is showing off the artist¡¯s capability is very catchy, but, if you look at them with time, you probably will recognize that the unconscious landscape that is overlapped with the past and the present would be sounded like a symphony on canvas. When you look at those various processes with closing eyes, there would come up with the dimension and flatness of Yin and Yang. Cubes are mixed for one another to be turned back as a mass of Yin and Yang, but they are not regular or solid. Rather, the full screen is full of the combination of the oriental and the western drawing methods, which look like breaking down the prejudice by a unique way. The esthetic finishing touch of the organization of space seems to show Jeong, Hwan¡¯s mind who is a western painter.

Any images of people who come from the artist look grumpy or depressed, but all of them are looking forward to hopes. It is representing modern people¡¯s different arty messages that we are yearning for the hope as the self-portrait.

The artist¡¯s brush must have been doing that over and over and overlapping repeatedly in order to catch the breaths of dim lights that settle down to the things in the darkness and brightness. And, there must be many studies for the formation to paint to be able to feel some oriental emotional feelings about the territory between the real and the surreal alongside his viewpoints. Like that, this modern art¡¯s ¡°Painting¡± that feels old-fashioned by the artist¡¯s pictorial desire is supposed to shape the oriental level as an oil-painting. And, there is the level of humane heart in Jeong, Hwan¡¯s works. In his art, there are deep and serious images that are tangled and overlapped with nature and artificial language as a character. Those images are his old future ones that he has been dreaming of for a while over the real world and results made by fragments of the memory are pictorial expression in missing pastel toned, tender but faraway.

Jeong, Hwan is trying to understand with his own convincement in the unique formative phraseology as a free trip of dream in the consciousness and unconsciousness and a free landscape in his mind. From that viewpoint, this artist is a free man who is not restrained in a functional reality, not be bound and he is chasing after the free fragments to finish soft but thick oil paintings.

- Art critic, Lee, Yu-Sang (Doctor of esthetic)

Mystic images melted in his pastel-toned oil paintings are sometimes overlapped with images and modified in some dreamy faces described with rough brushing and hard texture.

In his canvas, the real world and the not-real world are randomly mixed with. Then, our perception that was captured and restrained could gain the freedom in time and space provided by the artist.

Unique component power and expression way acquired for a long time by him is embodied the inner side of human beings with own imagination.
