About Yeo, Myung-Hee Exhibition

INSPIRATION

Artist Yeo, Myung-Hee

A pine tree tells a story

Pine trees has been in a relationship with every life on earth for a long time and shown up as a subject, so it became a ¡®Pine Tree Culture¡¯. It stands calmly in our landscapes with evergreen and strong vitality, closely to us in the mountains, fields, hills at the back of the rural towns and even gardens of high-rising apartments building in downtown. Artist Yeo, Myung-Hee is putting hopes of peace inspired by a pine tree. With a subject with that pine tree is delivering the message of love. The artist¡¯s pine tree is going through the abstract process. Tree branches are dancing around, they hug for each other with lively screaming and then, symbolizing it in the holy meaning.

Artist is painting flowers and trees

At this time, she is concentrated on a pine tree. She is going anywhere to find out shapes of great pine trees up to somewhere in Gangwon she has no idea including Seoraksan Mountain, Bonghwa, Moongyeong Gaeun, places around royal tomb. She took every photo of those moments of pine trees in diverse and they are looking gorgeous and her materials are stack in her work studio. In another word, she is a painter who is inspired by nature.

Inspiration is an intuitional expression of the artist¡¯s spiritual world and artists are sharing for each other like giving and taking some inspiration throughout the world. Artists expect to discover the meaning in life with looking at hopes and wishes from images of nature. They are seeking for active visualization with having subject hope and wish to fantastic images. Also, they are hoping to take out the hope that the observers¡¯ inner sides and to find out peace.

First of all, they are trying to show their creative imagination so as to put their hopes with being loyal to their emotional feelings in canvas. Shapes and colors of nature can be reborn with their emotions and impressions after being modified. After impressionism, modern art was getting far away from description of visual shapes of the objects.

Her work studio in Amsa-dong, Seoul is full of oil colors, terebene, and linseed, which are dried in there as a process. The artist has been focusing on various technical experiments and utilization with oils for last a few years. She is working on a formative experiment by colors and oils rather than classical depict of perspective or shading that were born in the middle of the city of logic, so she is studying for some accidental factors. Rather than focusing on shapes or colors that are basic factors, actually, she is showing more open possibility in modeling as a combined method with oils. In other words, she is making an effort to change and expand a visual language, which is knocking the door of people¡¯s mind and waking up their potential consciousness via modeling.

Glazing is a way to overlap colors by diluting oil colors clearly and varnishing is a way to form a surface of image and they are a study of her expressive technique in detail. Besides, she is interested in working on splashed ink effect with Indian inks of black-and-white painting and focusing on something running down with being blended with colors and oils in water colored painting as well. She is using modeling paste as a supplement with a knife for expressing thick texture as a method. She is trying to have a meeting with sense of vision and sense of touch from nature by painting colors densely and thickly directly. The effect of thick texture and overlapping effect can make some physical results of nature that vital energy came out from stacking of time visualized.

Tracks of running of oils are in the harmony in space as a background of thick colors, which are around pine trees. In the basis, she painted flower until the up-to-date and covered it and then left it out as a process. With that way, she is completing the dense of the image of various levels. With a visual effect of the work and focusing on the experiments by materials like that, she is suggesting hopes and wishes toward the spiritual world to the viewers. By pouring oils on to the images of space of the back ground, flower and pine trees, they all are connected as one. Oil work of the screen is controlled carefully the flow and running down of the whole oils in any directions like up and down and left and right. Experimental mind of the images using oils is open to the Christianity¡¯s translation. Oil is treatment and blessing and even a symbol of salvation. ¡®Messiah¡¯ means the Savior in Christianity is, in fact, a person who gets oil or a person who is selected to get oil.

Artist is expanding the view of formative translation from starting with a study of formative arts in forms and colors

There are flowers and pine trees giving some comfort for the minds and visual joy. Other than that objective truth that we can see, it is the artist¡¯s intention to show another meaning. She is seeking for soulful expression that can influence on the potential spirit in the inner side.

The artist¡¯s literary depict and origin is linked to her character which was born with her and it reflects on her paintings. From a start of forming nature, she is looking for the soulful comfort and visual enjoyment via trying some formative discovery. After all, she is working on the subject of love and peace, constantly.

The ultimate goal of working is to put a message of love of the Christianity. She is listening to the inner side and waiting for the communication of spirits with the appreciators. Rather than going to the nirvana, people meet the artist¡¯s will of modeling that has love and hope of peace with a mind of praying for the Virgin Mary who is taking care of her soul and with a mind of looking everyone in the world of Buddha¡¯s mind.
