Suggesting a new Korea-Japan Cooperation vision and four practical strategies around the 50th anniversary of normalization of diplomatic relation

President Heo, Chang-Soo

President Heo, Chang-Soo of the Federation of Korean Industries(FKI) made a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 46th Korean and Japanese Businessmen Committee, which was held in Tokyo on 14th of the last month and suggested a new Korea-Japan Cooperation vision that is seeking for hopeful 100 years in the future beyond the last 50 years of miracle and four practical strategies to about 300 people from both countries at the event and it was made around the time for having the 50th anniversary of normalization of diplomatic relation in June next year.

First of all, President Heo evaluated the cooperation between both countries of companies and industries in the beginning were like Korea took techniques from Japan or held their investments as the first generation¡¯s cooperation. Later, Korea had the second generation¡¯s cooperation that was both countries had a divided relationship in Northeast Asia after China developed in everything. Now, they have grown to be able to have the third relationship throughout the competition in good faith and cooperation for a long time.

Currently, he is presenting the fourth generation economic cooperation to produce a new value and business at the global market by combining with each other¡¯s advantages to leap to the next level. For that, he suggested for strengthening of technology in the new industry like next generation¡¯s energy, smart cars and smart cities and promoting some programs like EUREKA, which is the joint study program of the EU in a dimension of both countries. Secondly, he suggested the necessity of establishing permanent private organization for the acceleration of economic integration in Asia and the Pacific area such as Korea-China-Japan FTA, RCEP, and TPP and talked about concrete ways in details for that. One of them was to present the development of extension of ¡®Asia Business Summit¡¯, which is leading the Federation of Economic Organization in Japan by benchmarking the EU ¡®Business Europe¡¯ (participation of 41 organizations from 35 countries). Thirdly, president Heo disclosed the desire of Korean government, companies and all the citizens for the unification with North Korea and he asked for Japanese active support and join to induce North Korea¡¯s innovation and open while preparing for the unification in the future to Japanese economy. Lastly, President Heo expressed his concern on that both countries¡¯ good feelings for each other have been losing hugely because of the past history. On the other hand, he suggested various methods like constant support for Korea-Japan Festival Hanmadang, sharing the internship between each other¡¯s companies and taking credits some common credit between the universities etc.

Prior to the Korea-Japan Business Committee, President Heo, Chang-Soo met President Yonekura (President of Sumitomo Chemistry Inc.) of Federation of Economic Organization and President Sakakibara Doray (next president of Federation of Economic Organization, due to having a formal inauguration ceremony on 3rd June) subsequently and asked for the normalization of relationship between Korea and Japan to do something together.

Especially, with next president of Japan Business, he promised to try together for the reactivation of Korea-Japan Economy Committee between Federation of Economic Organization and Federation of Korean Industries, which was stopped since 2008.
