A leader in the 21st-century dietary culture and creating hospitality design industry

Park Eun-hee, president of Gilga

Trend of design by a society¡¯s industrial structure is changing by the degree of each country¡¯s culture. That is, there are structures of low-priced general product for practicality found in backward countries, premium product in developing countries and contract product for implementing the highest-class design shown in G7. Besides, by sharing of knowledge with promptness, culture of each country of the world has converged in diverse fields, allowing Korea to succeed in national publicity and creation of high economic profits using ¡®Korean Wave.¡± In this trend of the current age, dietary culture has changed into customized design structure for individual consumers. Accordingly, <Gilga>, an enterprise headed by specialist Park Eun-hee, is leading a future-oriented creative design industry with corporate responsibility as well as research and practice on people.

Intoxicated with the five senses, as clamored for by this age of sensibility

Faced with the paradigm of new design production, <Gilga>, a dietary culture enterprise, has focused its marketing strategy on prioritizing individual consumer¡¯s emotion leading to intuitive and instantaneous choice through personal exterior environment and life experience. This age of sensibility we are in makes it essential to work on man¡¯s five senses, so the members belonging together with President Park are doing their best effort to achieve the consumer¡¯s subjective satisfaction by putting it to practical use with the highest level of professional knowledge. President Park possessed of a doctorate and certificate of qualifications related to diet culture (cooking, tableware, dietary space production and floral design) is preparing for the best enterprise together with corporate strategy marketer with a doctorate of chromatics, professional designer experienced with promotion and pathological specialist for health. With such aid from members leading to the competitiveness of <Gilga> demanded by the age of sensibility, the company is making a blueprint with them for educational scene through lecture and seminar and talent donation for the socially weak carrying on with businesses of emotional dining, restaurant, each kind of parties, event planner and packed lunch.

Currently with a continued lecture and seminar for educational institutions and rearing specialists, she is doing emotional packed-lunch business for nutrition and epicures (Product: Five-sense satisfaction) and each kind of events, also acting as an event planner. Especially, President Park says, ¡°Emotional food styling requires choice of dishes and tableware suited for objects and concept, formative elements of design for sense of overall unity, that is, the sense of producing the color, shape and texture looking delicious. Besides, for consulting on restaurant industry, it is important to prepare design conditions that take care of the space and maintain the grace of formal acts by applying the basic elements for space production (floor, ceiling, wall, door, window, curtain. etc.), expressive elements (lighting, prop, plant material, artwork, etc) and emotional elements (sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste).¡±

Design for human resulted in <Noblesse Oblige>

Though majoring in pure Western painting at college, after marriage she came to be connected with cooking in order to cope with the family¡¯s fastidious palate and frequent family events in person. Then, from Eastern and Western cooking to authentic Korean food, she was taught herself from specialists. Furthermore, taking interest in developing food and beverage, she went on to a graduate school obtaining master¡¯s and doctor¡¯s degrees.

Gradually, however, in moral responsibility and obligation following conflicts between social classes and the gap between the rich and poor, she found the meaning of human life, and trying to relieve such mental conflicts led to social responsibility from the spirit of noblesse oblige asking for the sharing and service of the social leaders. Consequently, she conceived an enterprise with like-minded members as a means of creating economy, which will start on the site of creative design industry of dietary culture for human. Other than what has been mentioned so far, <Gilga> will keep proposing long-term plans on making the brand truly famous enough to let the whole world know the Korean food culture as getting itself ready to impress everyone with the best performance of the experts. In particular, as a part of this project on tableware on the table at meals in Korea, President Park has held an exhibition of 'sinseollo' as publishing a book on the same topic, and in the end, she made some amazing research achievement which was that 'sinseollo', as a brazier-type dish from the ancient times, possesses functions and dignity both proper enough to go well with dishes of the West and the East.

Park has been working hard to find the beauty of design only for human beings and communities, and with this passion for 'making a contribution to the culture of mankind by discovering the very essence of food culture which would cover everything from cooking to tableware and coordination', Park has even produced some unique 'sinseollo'. In her mind, the essence of this particular food culture mentioned just on the above will inspire not only people in Korea but also everyone all around the world.

As described, in this ongoing dream of President Park, she does her best to forecast a future of the food culture, focusing only on human beings.
